Greetings, new kid on the block -

Or rather, someone considering returning to trueSpace after many years.


Lately my interests have been in developing interactive educational content for the Web. I'll most likely be deploying in X3D and/or lua-driven OGRE.


"Normally" I would have gone with 3DS, Maya, Blender, or XSI - the latter is directly supported, and now offers real nice mesh/skeleton/vertex animation export to OGRE.


BUT I really like the trueSpace interface, and rich-yet-intuitive set of features. Still, there is one thing that has kept me from going back: persistent unclarity as to (future?) abilities to export not only static entities but various flavors of animation as well. Thus my pre-re-purchase questions:

1. Can anyone point me to specific examples of exported skeletal and mesh animation to a common exchange format? What I see in VRML is very impractical, and I'm not sure how much is preserved in activeX and the other options.


2. What is planned/promised for character animation export formats in 7.5???


3. Any plans for animation exporting options to X3D, Collada, or any of the authoring tools mentioned above?


I'll stop there. It's good to see that the tS community is still going strong after all these years.
