I've been perusing the plug-ins and pondering which one(s) to get. I will be incorporating the 3D objects I make into "toons" and home movies, entertainment. I don't post my work to the web much, except for here, cause I want to learn. :)

Out of all the plug-ins which one(s) do you guys think would best suit my purposes with tS 6.6?

Thanks in advance for your opinions. :)

CK GameFactory is one of my favorites. (http://ckgamefactory.hp.infoseek.co.jp/index-e.html)

I would also say shader magic, and shader lab.

jamesmc: If you're going to be using tS 6.6 for a while, then I recommend MotionStudio for character animation. You can download a demo here: http://www.pixelfu.com/MotionStudio/Download.html

I also suggest checking out the CK Game Factory plugins, as Mr. Bones mentioned. You can't beat the price on those.

I am checking on Motion Studio first.

From what I read it appears to be a nicely implemented program.

However, from reading their forums on Primitive Itch, a lot of user issues go unanswered.

Are there any problems/precautions that I should be aware of using Motion Studio?

You might consider getting the Flash plugin. It makes pretty good looking "toons".

Scott Miles (owner of Primitive Itch) has stopped development of trueSpace plugins.

That said, MotionStudio is rock-solid. The plugin itself has yet to crash on me, and I use it very frequently. (Like the guy on Reading Rainbow says, 'But you don't have to take my word for it..." Download the demo and give it a spin. Feel free to email me if you have any questions on using it.)

I compare it to another favorite plugin of mine: u|v Cow (Powerful UV editor). The authors of both plugins don't support them anymore, but that doesn't keep the current versions from working very well as they are. That's why I emphasized the "If you're going to be using tS 6.6 for a while" part - because some plugins have limitations in trueSpace 7 and eventually will not work with later versions once the Model side is moved into Player.

I still use trueSpace 5.1 for some things, by the way. ;)

Thanks for the advice. Will probably be using it for awhile until I get myself oriented into 3D space (no pun intended.)

I downloaded the demo, am going through the help files now. Tomorrow, I'll saddle up and take it for a ride. :)

Cool! Send me an email if you run into any problems rigging or animating!

Jamesmc,

I would highly recommend the Piaxistool first off. I use that more than any other plug in so far. I also use the Virtual Caledonia plug-ins VCtek, VCBlu,...a lot. These are essential for cars, trucks, etc. I have also found Edge2path to be handy.

Hope that helps,

Joe
