Yeah just create your WIP and title it something so that Kena knows you're entering. This is a user competition though, totally separate from the official Caligari competitions. Only prize is bragging rights and being able to add it to your sig. ;)

I must say that the amount of entries and the implementation is encouraging. I see fantastic creative ideas coming to life in the various threads making my visits very enjoyable. It is also nice to see familiar names from the past join in and participate.

I'm definitely encouraged! Now to just convince those people who didn't model that they are allowed to vote for their favorite!

LOL Steinie! :D

Yeah, I've got a hard deadline coming up, so no way I'd have anytime to work on mine in the next two days either. :o

Gonna be tight but I'm hoping to get my other project knocked out out by Monday so that I'll have time to work on this.

I don't want to miss the deadline in 2 days time so...

What time exactly does the competition end day after tomorrow?

I know it is 10pm EST but I need to work out the local time at GMT +2 because I want to do some extra work tonight and post the final image this time in two days...

How do I translate 10pm EST to GMT +2 anybody?

EST is GMT -5 but we also observe daylights savings time. So go to this web site and click GMT -5 to show the time and then add one hour to the time shown.

http://wwp.gmt-5.com/

I would think there is usually 7 hours difference but with daylights savings it would be 6. Are you located in Africa?

What size pictures should be submitted?

The general rule is not to go over 800px wide because it messes up the forums. But you can link to larger resolution images if you want.

sorry Rayman. That is irritating.

I have a help question, and I hoped I could get the answer faster here. I want to get my final scene posted but have hit a problem (remember this is 3.2, I know this is probably annoying a lot of people (all these 3.2 problems)).

If I use fog in 3.2 all transparent areas on models turn a dark color (like sunglasses lol). Anyone know of a way to fix that?

Thanks,

Mike

It's been a looong time since version 3 for me. But I think that you just need to texture it solid, then transparent again to fix the problem. Maybe, I'm not sure anymore.

:( nope (thanks thought)... Didn't work. Oh well. Everyone - pretend there is a soft grey/blue fog just blending off the distant hills and trees. (It is a shame since the fog would have helped give a better feel for the distance to the hills in back).

I have posted my final entry on my WIP (I wish the forum didn't have such small limits. It lets you upload a 20mb zip but only a 293 jpg).

Thanks,

Mike

(By the way, all the entries (WIPs) look great. This is going to be a fun vote).

Good work to everybody :)

It was a fun scene to build and I am definately going to build on it some more after the competition, still want to model the inside and make nicer detailed versions of the pot-a-pan warriors and other objects I did for the scene...

Like I said in the Sand Boat image for the SMC33, this might evolve into a whole scifi story I can write and build on, just like the Cliff Colony [which I still need to finish off as well !!! ]

So once again, good work and happy voting :)

I just counted, and we have 14 entries for the challenge this month!
If the poll won't let me do that many, I will split it into two sections.

Everyone is doing a very good job.. I'm holding off for an hour and 45 minutes, just in case a couple of new final renders come in.

EDIT: OK - I can put up to 10 images in each post, and a poll can contain up to 40 items, so this is doable. I will put 7 pictures in each of the first two posts, so don't comment until you see the second post up in that thread.

And good luck everyone!!!

Fan-frikin-tastic! Now THIS is participation!

GREAT work folks. And great job kena. Now the problem is, which one do I vote for, with only one chit and so many cool possibilities? :D

I was worried about voting. I was thinking "I would probably vote for myself, and that would be unfair to others."

Is it okay with you kena, if I don't vote in the MMC Challenge, unless I want to?

Nice job everyone, you make my castle look like it came from a garbage can... no offense intended. That's how great I think everyone made their castles.:)

Thanks again!

well.. I would say that if you don't feel right voting for yourself, vote for whoever you think did "second best"... but it's up to you.
