This is going to go to the wire too but I had to get in!
If Character looks like BrotherX (or Warner Brothers Character) it is purely coincidental.

Thanks Jack! If it wasn't for you this room would be one hand clapping!
Here is Phase 3
Well the little man has landed! I think I'll name him "SpaceballX"
The Moon really is one huge sphere mapped with a texture of the real moon. I'm not totally satisfied with the nose cone yet.
I used soft paint to create SpaceballX's head.
My design still calls for glasses, dust, stars, body and hands. I'll use "Bloom" to create my dusty atmosphere. Three spotlights aimed down to create the "Hot Landing Zone"
By playing with settings in LE for the spotlights a red ring was created.
Dedicating more time to Color can really help any Illustration or Rendering especially if your a Cartoonist. Besides Idea, Layout, Lighting and Models this is one of my favorite areas.
Specs: TS7.51, Realtime Render
p.s.
The main idea I'll save until the end...

The main crit I have is that the compression is up to high and it definitely needs adaptive-AA. Looks like you're definitely going to have a contender, though! :)

Another superb bit of 'steinie-vision'. I love the warped nature of your scenes Bob - so very different from my own style! This is great and WAAAY closer to finished than my own project!

As kids we all made stars like this so during the design stage I thought why not make the exact same stars in 3D?

The stars were made from cylinders and the moon (tongue) is one giant sphere. I guess this one didn't bite off more then it could chew...

Various Responses around the world

Steinie: hahaha (I made myself laugh)

My kids: LOL

Prodigy jejejeje

This Thread:"We better get moving!"

My Dog: lick lick lick

A Cat: nothing

That's pretty cool Steinie!

Sorry for the delay. I've been... Lost In Code...

I like this image. It looks like you have a Gary Larson style sense of humor. I like it!

So what's he going to do now??? Will our hero survive? How will he get out?

Tune in Next time for...

Steinieeeee Spaaaaace!

W!zard and Frootee, your both convincing me I need a Doctor!

A comparison to Gary Larson is quite an honor!

Jack you better get going on your own cool project only a few more days left!

W!zard, not too much activity in yours either!

All three of you make this Forum worth while and a pleasure to visit. (This is where my son

comes in the room and says "Dad stop being a suck-up!):D

Steinie says:"W!zard, not too much activity in yours either!" Yeah fair call, Bob. Actually, dispite major real world issues - like needing to find somewhere else to live! - there's been a great deal of activity - just none that I felt suitable to share.

The challange I set myself was aptly named - 'lost in trueSpace' because that's what happened. The net result is that I have learned a great deal about the LE and realtime shaders and First person navigation and so on and on - but what I have produced has been more a series of examples of what not to do!

And Dele is no help at all - well actually he's exactly the opposite - he's very helpful. But each time he comes up with a new trigger device I want to learn all about it and use it in my scene - which sets me back a few more days.

I may not have a lot to show by the deadline for Jacks MMC but I will eventually have something cool to show (at least that's the plan).
