Do not want to limit you anyhow except 2 hours model time limit. You can model everything from a snooker ball to a racing car.:D

DEADLINE : March 20; 12:00 pm GMT

The rules:

1. Create the model(s) in the specified 2 hours time.

2. You may enter as many times as you like.

3. Your entry should include a wireframe screen grab before subdivision has been applied, mainly this is so people can get an idea of how things were created and maybe learn something.

4. Include time spent, trueSpace version, render engine.

5. Post only one image per entry which must be no larger than 800x600 pixels. Final composition is up to you.

6. Render time, lighting and texturing are not included as people with slower computers may be at a disadvantage.

7. The winner is encouraged to place a tutorial in the new Tutorium showing how they made their entry (Contact Norm). Sometimes the wireframe isn't enough.

Good Luck !

Using Lathe I created my bat in 2 minutes.
Using sweep and lathe, I created the fence in an hour and 45 minutes. I never thought it would be so difficult to get those angles just right so they meshed together just right.
Using TS 7.5 and lightworks render.

spent 30 minutes texturing and positioning the camera....
This is a picture of the back-side of the concession stand at my small-town's baseball field. The 6 room school house was torn down about 10 years ago, and the students now bus an hour and a half to the next nearest school. The last graduating class of Friendship TN High school was 16. So this one is for the memory.

Using the lathe I created the hoop. I switched to workspace and assigned wood physics properties, copied 4 times and raised them above the plane...let them drop and rendered the last frame.

Modelling time: 5 minutes

Texturing: 15 minutes

Messing with the Physics: 15 minutes.

VRay render: 15 minutes.

***this is not an entry***

Went over on time (by a lot :() and there's a ton of work left to do on it, but thought I'd post it anyway since I haven't had much time to participate in these lately. All work was done in Workspace with no booleans used. :)

I did learn a new technique working on this and if I get a chance later in the week I'll do up a video for the tutorium. Also might give it another go, if time permits.

Here's my entry.

Though I haven't played since I was a kid, and I now enjoy golf more, but here's some tennis rackets.

Modeling: All 2 Hours

Texturing/Rendering: about an hour - Lightworks

Modelled in TS 6.6

The handle is a SDS cube. The racket is made from the same NURBS curve extruded a couple different ways. The strings are all NURBS extrusions then converted to polys to boolean out the shape of the racket. The tennis ball is all texture, but it's only there for show. :)

Enjoy!

I always liked this game (sport?) but I have not played it for a long time so I tried to give it a "too long on the attic" look.

Modeling 15 min. Texturing took longer before I got what I wanted, perhaps 2h or so. All in Lightworks.

Only just noticed it says 12pm GMT at the top - thought I had until the end of the day, so I could use my lunchbreak today....

Just in case, here's my quick attempt at something other than a ball...! Although it is mainly a heavily modified sphere.... no SDS, just hollowed out/cut sphere plus lofted circles to form face guard...

Total time for modelling, texturing, lighting etc approx 1.5 hours, using TS5.1.

Should have spent longer, but lunch was over...
