Since in the original poll both Nez and I had won, we teamed up behind the scenes to come up with a new idea for the SMC. In light of the recent developments with tS and Microsoft we thought about speedmodeling windows :D
Because this might not be much of a challenge Nez came up with the idea that each should model his or her house (including windows of course). Alternatively it could be your neighbours house or the one you really want to live in. And of course all in 2 hours!
At the end we could make our own virtual tS town.
DEADLINE : February 26; 12:00 pm GMT
The rules:
1. Create the model(s) in the specified time.
2. You may enter as many times as you like.
3. Your entry should include a wireframe screen grab before subdivision has been applied, mainly this is so people can get an idea of how things were created and maybe learn something.
4. Include time spent, trueSpace version, render engine.
5. Post only one image per entry which must be no larger than 800x600 pixels. Final composition is up to you.
6. Render time, lighting and texturing are not included as people with slower computers may be at a disadvantage.
7. The winner is encouraged to place a tutorial in the new Tutorium showing how they made their entry (Contact Norm). Sometimes the wireframe isn't enough.
Good Luck !

My house in Limassol, Cyprus. (SMC approximation to it :D) Full 2 hours modelling. As usual frame, door and railing take time. The rest - set of booleaned cubes. Texturing and composition 1 hour, render - 2 min.
Ts7.51, Vray. Last image - my real house.
By the way, has anybody tried to place buildings to Virtual earth or Google earth ? |

Well, this is my house, as a model....
It's a semi, so I haven't shown the neighbours! Ran out of time to go quite as far as I'd hoped (didn't get onto the chimneys, garden wall, fence or some of the other details like the glazed doors between the living romo and dining room). Was hoping to start on the interior but that wasn't realistic in the timeframe... Probably shouldn't have wasted time putting glass in all the windows as it hasn't shown anyway...
Modelling - 2 hours - nothing fancy, all ploys/extrusions and the like.
Textures/lights - about an hour. Should probably have spent longer on interior walls, carpets etc, but didn't seem much point after seeing Changa's entry (great job!)
Rendering took about 5 mins using shadowmapped IBL as main light source...

Here is my entry hors concours. A canal house, not mine! Modeling was easy, 1h or so. Texturing took some time to find the bricks etc. Render in LW with HDR.
