There are just too many challenges right now or is it that you always skip lunch?

Thanks to Prodigy we have something to eat now, great eggs, really beatiful with the dof!

OK, I also made lunch, but I am hoping for some more entries! Three days left….

I made a tribute to Momofuku Ando, the inventor of instant noodles. Speed modeling instant noodles is food for the brain. I put the materials on in Modeler and rendered in Workspace, but could not get the materials right again. the render is also a bit too dark, but since it is all about speed modeling and not rendering….:D

Yay for the separate category! Boo for the lack of entries!

Hopefully more will appear before the end. I've been away from the computer for the last five days and am away for the next two so might not get my entry sorted (unless there's an extension), which is a pain as I know what I want to do!

I've got a fun idea, I'll get mine modeled today, but will probably need tomorrow to texture it.

I think texturing is the hard part for this one, so maybe we should all get our wires up and post the textured versions later if we have time.

That, or you could extend it a week, Georg. I think this is a good topic, but could be really tough depending on how ambitious the choice of subject.

Nice render Georg :)

Here are few easy ideas to make fast food.. and not fat food! ;)

Sushi Rolls (can look amazing with simple Cilinders and Textures)
Potatoes Chips ..
Hot dog..
Candies..
and finaly Frog legs (we can leave this to Steinie, is the master chopping frog legs "i swear" :D)

I like to see for example some entrys from Splinter, Mad Mouse, Vizu, Daybe, Wiz@rd, Visualdude, nowherebrain, BrotherX (btw, you are the star in Steinie's wip hehehe) i left many others users but i have a compiled list from all of you here..

LINK (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/memberlist.php)

Yes, i waste all the night typing this :D

DEADLINE EXTENDED!!

OK. By popular demand I decided to bend the rules.

Three lunches just isn’t enough for all of us. I hope there is now enough inspiration from the entries so far (great brown bag, Jack!) and with Roman’s special request to try out the SoftPaint and DisplacementPaint tool I decided to give you all another weekend.

As Prodigy so nicely shows with his eggs these new tools are certainly great to create food stuff.

So new deadline: Monday – August 20th midnight CDT, (appr 5 am on the 21th BST, 6 am on 21th in rest of Europe (almost breakfast), and already 4pm at EST)

Cheers

Georg

Nice apples, blakeo. These relative small deformations with the soft paint tool make it look very realistic. I also tried to make an apple with the softpaint but it was totally unedible. You can easily go overboard with this tool :o

Nice work so far everyone... and thanks Gerog for the extended deadline! I'm going to try one of my other ideas.

In case you were wondering, I forgot to mention that I am, in fact, a horse and the apples were my lunch :D

Yes! I have very dextrous hooves....

I have to say that all render looks stunningly realistic!

If I hadn't seen the mesh screen shot of the apples, I would almost believe that they where real and a photograph.

I agree - all the beauty renders are looking great. I love those eggs - simply amazing.

For the apples there are a few things that help for realism -

1. HDRI lighting and background.

2. VRay with GI

3. Vray Glossy shader for the waxy look.

4. Physical Simulation - I gave the one apple physical properites, copied it many times, placed a simple box shape beneath them and turned on Phys-Sim. That's how they fell! :)

With all those you can make any sphere look good  ;)

Thanks for the compliment on my (not-so) brown bag, Georg. Shame I'm not going to have time to texture it. :(

Very cool 2nd entry Blakeo! Very creative use of the modeling tools!

I think this is going to be another hard vote for people. Lets hope we get a few last minute entries as well.

Fantastic worm, Blakeo. It booleaned its way in, I love his fat belly and the happy face. How did you put the little pieces on the ground, was that booleaned from a sculpted plane?

There is still time for some additional entries, I hope we'll see some more!!!

Thanks Georg. The pieces of apple are a sculpeted plane (done with the displacement map tool) copied a couple of times. But I didn't go as far as booleaning. They are just "poking" through the floor object. Quick and dirty method :)

The wire doesn't show the plane properly, sorry. I did capture as hidden line as is was slightly easier to see the wires... I'll attached a wire of the plane below.

I hope there are a few more entires for this one.

Damnit. For some reason I had it in my head that I had until Friday to get one done. Doh!
