It is not easy to be original but reading the forum during lunch I came up with this topic. It think it has enough possibilities for beginners and experts, and it will be informative to see what everyone considers as lunch. Since your appetite may force you to eat more than one thing at lunch I changed the title of the thread into speed modeling, to avoid any confusion :) .

With the weekend ahead of us I hope for some hearty lunches (chromium meat balls?)

Objective:

Model any type of Lunch in under 2 hours.

The rules:

1. Create the model(s) in the specified time.

2. You may enter as many times as you like.

3. Your entry should include a wireframe screen grab before subdivision has been applied, mainly this is so people can get an idea of how things were created and maybe learn something.

4. Include time spent, trueSpace version, render engine.

5. Post only one image per entry which must be no larger than 800x600 pixels. Final composition is up to you.

6. Render time, lighting and texturing are not included as people with slower computers may be at a disadvantage.

7. The winner is encouraged to place a tutorial in the new Tutorium showing how they made their entry (Contact Norm). Sometimes the wireframe isn't enough.

Time limit - 120 minutes

New Deadline

– Monday – August 20th midnight CDT, (appr 5 am on the 21th BST, 6 am on 21th in rest of Europe (almost breakfast), and already 4pm at EST)

Cheers

Georg

Hey Prodigy! Maybe you could make those eggs green, and add some ham!

Howd'ya like them apples? :D

Software : tS 7.51,Vray 1.52

Model Time: about 20-30 mins, mostly experimenting with the softpaint(?) tool on a sphere:)

Total Time: Just under an hour for everything, including rendering ...

I know - it's just one step away from chrome balls ;) but I didn't have time for anything better this challenge... I've had much better ideas since just rendering this one but, alas, they will never be seen... (EDIT : wait a minute - just noticed the extended deadline!! I might do one of the ideas after all - another Apple-based entry)

Bit quiet on this challenge? I'll just have to post a 2nd entry then :D

Entry 2 : Happy Apple Worm

I consider this my real entry - the better idea I had after the deadline extension:)

Software : tS 7.51, WS and modeller (for booleans) and Photoshop CS2 to remove some edge artifacts on the applecore. (SSS bug?)

Render: Vray 1.52

Model Time: about 55 mins (started from scratch and didn't use my previous apple model)

Total Time: A good few hours experimenting with shaders and SSS shaders and scene setup.
