Since nobody other than Prodigy has submitted something, I think I might give it a try.... If I do something worth submitting, I'll do it later today! :D

Hope more folks plan to enter soon. I don't really want to be the person who "killed" the SMC with my choice of topic!

P.K.

Ha, I'll start one tonight! I have an idea, just don't know how I'm going to make it.... It's a nice topic, maybe a little too specific of a subject, but but hey, it works! :D

Sorry Professor Khaos, but my mom stole the computer for the night...

I was about half way through (I had an hour left), so I'll pick up where I left off tomorrow...

Also, my grass randomly disappeared when I saved the scene, so now I have no grass...

I used the grass tutorial that Prodigy set up (thanks Prodigy btw) to make the grass, and it randomly disappeared...

Did you have problems like that Prodigy?

First.. Dont be sad PK, on my topic (computer case) it was a disaster, is not your fault... you will see more entrys im sure of that..

tSed, yup i see that problem and is becauses when you save a scene the particle system is reset, (sorry my english hehee) i foud only one way to get the grass on my saved scene.. and is saveing the grass in other format and load again as a object not as a emiter.. so you loose the ability to change the values but you can save your work... Do for example save as obj, and import again... other (im not 100% sure) but save as TS5.0 format and load again.. that must be work.. :p

Good BBQ PK.. (PK = ProfessorKhaos)

Thanks Prodigy; I'll try that tomorrow in my remaining one hour of my SMC!

I don't think it's going to come out too well; I'm running into a bunch of things that I want to do but don't know how to do...

Hopefully we'll see more entries before the deadline (is there a deadline?)!

Challenges have been a bit tough for me too. Some of my attempts have tried to explore "new territory" for me so my results have varied from contest to contest. For instance, I haven't done too much SDS in the past so when the Insect challenge came up that's what I did. My insect was somewhat simple and the legs looked like they were octopi legs instead of jointed insect legs. The pawn I did last contest I tried to understand a little bit more about SDS to keep certain corners sharp by putting 2 edge loops next to each other. Had some trouble with booleans on that one when I tried carving little holes in the pawn base only to find the booleans were applied to the base mesh and not the SDS. This resulted in kinda weird holes that didn't really look very clean after SDS was applied.

This time round I think I've got a better handle on things with SDS but found myself still only thinking in 2D terms instead of 3D so some objects I had to undo and redo. I did extract the SDS mesh from the control cage this time to do some additional boolean operations and that kinda makes the control cage inaccessible later when I did the screen capture.

One of these days I'll do a whole model in SDS and ignore booleans, but for a speed model challenge I find booleans to be a best friend.

We could always extend SMC#16 through the weekend if that helps. I have a feeling that's when folks have the most time.

Lol, ya they want to make sure I'm not a druggie.

It's required that it takes me four hours to take the whole test, and I've finished early, so I'll work on the BBQ grill and submit it later today!

I'll go to the SMC thread then...

NOW I see it! That looks HOT dude! I like the charcoals you used.

I'll see if I can put something together but I doubt I'll have a chance, especially to get lighting and stuff correct, but I did just think of something

rather macabre. :-D
