Excellent work everybody. I'm impressed with the level of craft and creativity in this challenge, it's going to be hard to pick the winner.:)
I'll let the voting go for a week. If it's cool I'll also bump this thread occasionally so it doesn't leave the main page. |

Transient's bishop impressed me greatly this time around. I wish I could do character work of that quality in such a short time.
Blakeo's rook looks awesome too! I couldn't have pictured something like that in my brain if I tried, not to mention actual creation of the object in such a short time.
Must admit I'm a bit surprised that my pawn is doing so well. Guess every now and then a blind squirrel finds a nut too.
I do enjoy seeing the posts come in for the challenges and have been checking each morning over the last week to see what new submission wandered in. :) |

Prodigy: thanks! Your set was great, and two very nice renders. If only I had your speed. You like to go for the 'photoreal' renders like me... oh, and being in my 30s, I hardly count as a kid anymore! :)
Prof: I don't think my mind would have come up with it either! Google Images is my friend - search for 'evil rook' and you'll find the reference pic I found... I'm terrible for needing something to work from! :o Your pawn I liked very much - very inventive and well made.
But, Transient's bishop blew me away... and got my vote.
These challenges are a great way to learn. I've switched the bridge off and trying to do it all in workspace. |

I think it's really close competition and you're just getting edged out Nowherebrain. I think yours is definitely one of the best ones and you had my vote until Transient came up with his stunning entry. ;)
Mine is just a pretty render and nice composition. So I'm really surprised that I got a vote. Not that I don't appreciate it though! :)

I had to vote for Prof's Tesla Pawns - firstly I am a Tesla fan and secondly I thought the picture looked a little like a Daleks fancy dress party - and I'm a fan of Daleks too!
Once again the SMC shows ther is no lack of lateral thinkers around here. |

I had many votes, early on, I think it may have something to do with the fact I was the first to enter:p . In the beginning it was a lack of options. I'm o.k. with this, as I feel it set the initial bar kinda high, not that I am the best out there, but I feel it was a fantastic stage setter(so to speak).
Transients entry ROCKS! |

not to mention that you accidentally voted for my bishop. I'm not hurt in that someone else also voted for it, so I can count that as one vote for my effort. :D |

Transient's model is very nice.. incredible what he made under 2h. I think it only need a better render to show his model.. like add a marble or ivory texture with a good lighting for example.. Don't know, just my comment.. ;)
I realy like the Blakeo's model and render.. it looks very nice.. im a little impresend he only get only 2 votes..
what ever.. i love to see what is next! |

Actually on 5 July. Still pretty close in my book. I count nowherebrain's vote as he intended, thus it only takes 2 to tie. Not bad considering 31 votes to this point :)
If I pull this off it will be a first for me though! :jumpy: |

It's all good :)
If I lose it saves me from the trouble of dreaming up a category and managing the next SMC polls, etc...
Wouldn't take much to overturn. I love all the entries and truthfully couldn't vote for my own this time round.
Question is... would Prodigy be able to wait 2 weeks? Rome may not have been built in a day but I bet Prodigy could get a fair representation of it done while waiting for the next contest if we extended the deadline. :D Always on the go you are sir! :) |

hehehe.. is true.. i cant wait... im a truly SMC fan and is my only and the best excuse to make anything outside my work.. soooooo.... I WANT THIS POLL BE CLOSED NOW!!!! :D
ok.. I have something wierd in mind... and i want to share with the SMC comunity...
what you think to make a SMC outside Edition???
See whats happend if we enter on a outside speed model challenge from other comunitys like this (http://www.3dm3.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=128)
I think win to others with other high end softs like maya or softxsi can be a proud for our comunity..
Yes.. im allways searching something strange to do.. hehehehe |

I think we have enough votes, so if the contestants agree I'm happy to call it quits. Again kudos to all the entries, they were top notch. Some excellent creativity and classy models.
Congratulations to ProfessorKhaos, definitely a worthy winner imho. :)
I like Prodigy's idea. Maybe we can start a thread with links to current comps around the web and go from there. |

Thanks everyone! I really did enjoy all the submissions. Hopefully I can come up with something interesting for the next challenge. Think I have something in mind that should work. Stay tuned! :) |
