Objective: to model some kind of Computer Case in under 2 hours, now you can model the case of your dreams!!

Rules:
1. Create the model in the specified time.
2. You may enter as many times as you like.
3. Your entry should include a wireframe screen grap before subdivision has been applied, mainly this is so people can get an idea of how things were created and perhaps learn a few things (this does not have to be incorporated into the final rendered image, if you feel your wireframe needs to be large so that people can understand it better then post a seperate wireframe).
4. Include time spent, trueSpace version, render engine.
5. Post only one image (and 1 wireframe if you like) per entry which must be no larger than 800x600 pixels. Final composition is up to you and can include as many copies of the object as you wish. Composition can include other objects but the main focus should be on the object specified by the challenge title.
6. Render time, lighting and texturing are not included as people with slower computers may be at a disadvantage.

Time limit - 120 minutes
Deadline - 10.00 PM -03.00 G.M.T. 30th of April 2007 (later you can enjoy the TS 7.5 release) ;)

Here is my concept... on the back is the power supply, outside the case to get a better refrigeration. The Sphere can be rotated on the base like a webcam ;)...

My Entry: XBOX 360

Not my best render, but I was hurrying up last night trying to finish. But hey, it is a modeling challenge. :)

I also went over on time I think by about 10 minutes or so. I wasn't writing down my time and did it in a few installments. The overage was mostly due to the challenge of NURBS which is what I was trying to model this mostly in. For two reasons: one, just to get better at them, and two I thought they were the best solution for this model.

I think I'll go back and finish this. I really like where it was going, and it's not that far from being finished.

Time: 2 hr 10 min

Texturing: 10 mins

Rendering: TS7.11 HDRI 15 mins

Enjoy,

Ed

Well, since no one else decided to do this challenge, I decided to do another!!

Just kidding, While looking for XBOX 360 images I also came across some Atari 2600 images - the original machine from back in the late 70s to early 80s.

I loved ours! So, I decided to model it for another entry having a little time tonight.

I modeled everything in about 2.5 hours (thanks to the extension on time :))

Textured and rendered in another 1.5 hours.

Rendered in HDRI TS 7.11

Enjoy!

I don't think Computer Cases are going to be that big anymore.

Modeling time was less than an hour. Adding textures was another hour. Wanting to get an entry in for Prodigy: All Week!:)

Think I used the full 3 hours prodigy allowed for this one after the extension. Texturing took about an hour adding up time used during modeling. ;)

TS 7.5(ish) and VRay 1.5

Enjoy!

Deadline was extended to the sixth. If you got one, post it quick before the challenge gets closed out! :D
