I was rearranging my toolbar layouts and moved all the icons out of the floating toolbar that always pops up with a 3D window. All is great except I lost the “normal sweep” edit tool icon. I can find it again if I load the edit tools library, but I don’t know how to get it from the library back into my layout toolbars. I can move it to the LE window but don’t know what to do after that. Help!

in the LE go to Project/Windows Manager Space/ you will find your new custom toolbar there..it might be named ToolbarFrame ..to help find it, click on the left corner of your LE window and a menu appears, choose arrange..your toolbar will be one of the last ones on the right..

go inside you will find a toolbar node, go inside that..bring your missing tool icon from the library put it there..if you want it as a popup you find the right icon and go inside it and put it there..hope thats not too vague..:)

Another way would be to locate the Normal Sweep button in the Buttons - Edit Tools library. Load into the Link Editor and select it. Hold the Ctrl key down and Left Mouse Button drag it's titlebar to your toolbar and drop it in. Note the Blue line in the screen grab which gives you an indication where you are before you drop it in.

Simlar problem here.

Have come up with a custom workspace that I particularly like, BUT have lost/ inadvertantly removed my animation bar.

For the life of me I look in Libraries etc and it's just got to be staring me in the face. But can I see it lol.

Any help or unwanted glasses much appreciated

Are you referring to Model's Animation toolbar? If not could you give more information?

trueBlue.. thanks that worked great. Stan... I'm afraid I got lost in the LE, I did find several toolbar nodes but none that looked like where I would want to put the extrude tool.

I did find a node titled "Drawpanel Tool 1" though. There isn't a draw panel in Workspace is there? (like in Model space?)

Thanks for you help.

Yeh sorry about the vagueness Trueblue, it was very late when I posted. When it dawned on me how vague I had been I just needed to get some shuteye, and threw in the towel and went to bed.

I'm referring to workspace side where I have managed to delete the animation bar/Window whilst customising the layout... the window which includes the fcurve, dopesheet and story tabs.

Cheers

Sorry but I am still not sure exactly what you are reffering to. If as you had said it is the Workspace/Animation View/4D animation toolbar, I may be able to write a script to reinstall it. However that toolbar does not have a close button and so not sure how you would have removed it. If on the other hand you are refferring to the Whole Window itself, that is easy. Just open another Animation View window from the toolbar on the bottom. You then can hold the Ctrl key down, select it's titlebar with the Left Mouse Button and drag + drop it into place. Is that what you mean? If all of the above does not identify what is happening, perhaps you could supply some screen shots or upload your layout and I will take a look at it for you.

IK, I think I can help with that. One thing is that any of the windows, LE or 3D can be turned into the animation window by clicking on the "3D", or "2D" next to the orange triangle in the title bar, then select 4D and you have your animation window.

But to get it back at the bottom like you had it before you will need to open another window, however it looks like you have deleted or moved the toolbar that has the add window icon in it. It was located in the toolbar with the Library Browser. If you still have it you can open a new window, either LE, 3D, or Anim. and then Control drad and dock it at the bottom of your big 3d window. Then it will be just like before.

Sorry if I just told you everything you already knew and you just neet to recover the "load new window" icon-toolbar, because I don't know how to do that.

Fantastic guys!!

Thanks to all your help I finally have my anim bar back!!! Yay

The mistake I have been making is assuming that as a default window it would be readily available on an almost 1 click, get it back basis.. It never even occurred to me that I needed to make a brand new window and THEN decide what should be in it.

So many thanks for your help, couldn't have sorted it without you!!

Regards

IK

Hi again, Now I have another question along the same line as this thread.

I had previously removed all the icons from the workspace toolbar that always opens with a new 3D window. The empty tool bar continues to pop up with the window and I was thinking that I didn't want it at all. But now I'm thinking I'd like to add some other tool-icons to it but I don't seem to be able to ctrl-drag icons into it like I can with other tool bars.

Also I have now found that tool bar node in LE. I go into Windows Manager Space, and then into Frame, 1 node. If I expand that node I can make the toolbar in question "hidden", so I know it is the correct node.

Now my question is: How can I add tool-icons to that node/toolbar? I tried opening the View Tools buttons library and draging the Rect Zoom into the node in LE but that alone doesn't make the icon appear in the workspace toolbar. Perhaps I have to drag links from it to something but I don't know.

Hope this is not too confusing. Not a big issue, but thought a good opportunity to learn something. Thanks -Jeff

This Editing toolbar is created programically (Hard Coded) and as you have found out is created every time you create another window. Additionally it is the only toolbar that hides (programically) when you switch to Model and if not present beforehand is recreated when you switch back to Workspace.

I have noticed that when you remove all icons from any toolbar that toolbar frame becomes unusable. I have tested successfully leaving at least one icon within before closing it or add another icon before removing the last one. You might try to Reset it by clicking on the triangle on the right hand side of the toolbar frame/handle.

Try this command after adding your button into your toolbar within Windows Manager.
WindowsManager.Activate();
You can run this command from the CMD window or create a script.

Here is a Link Editor Navigator toolbar I made. If you read the script that installs it you can get an idea what is involved.

when adding to toolbars in windows manager space . once completed you can also just click on the corner of the toolbar handle used to change toolbar to and from horizontal(the three little squares under the triangle). that will activate new buttons in the toolbar too.:)

In reply to Jeff99

Having messed about with my layout quite a bit I found it strange that I hadn't come across your toolbar problem with the default toolbar.

So I have just started up TS and ctrl dragged out some of the selection tools. When I ctrl drag them back in they DO go back to the default toolbar. So I wonder if its something to do with your toolbar being completely empty. If that IS the case then a workaround might be to drag out to your hearts content... as you have implied you have already done. Then hit the triangle in the default bar to get back all the tools. Now any Icons you don't want in the bar can simply be ctrl dragged out and deleted.

Just a thought

Yours

IK

I wasn't aware that the little triangle in the toolbar would reset it to defalt, I hadn't tried that, but after I left the above message I had restarted trueSpace and then the icon was in the tool bar. I definitly wasn't able to ctrl-drag an icon into the toolbar after it was completely empty. But after I loaded it from the library and then put it in the LE node for the toolbar, it was the after restart.

I thought I'd already explored the function of that little triangle but I had missed that. Now I'm afraid to try it because I don't want to re-drag everything out again.. :)

Anyway thanks everybody... -Jeff

There is no reason to be afraid of it. If you select the triangle you will given the options to change to 1D (Text), 2D (Icon), or Reset. What Reset does is reload the toolbar from the Toolbar Prototypes Encapsulator. Here within is where the toolbars are stored as a backup for the orginals. You could also call any of these toolbars from script.
Note also you can Ctrl + Drag an icon = Move
or you can Shift + Ctrl + Drag an icon = Copy
