I got a mail tonight from Madmouse saying he could not run Dribble without the watermark and that his 3Delight license had expired.

So, I tried the same and, what do you know, so had mine.

Question then: do we need to re-register every 6 months or so, or is something else amiss here?

A quick scour of the net shows this to be a common problem, it does indeed expire every few (6?) months.

Need to get a new license.dat file by going through the registration process again (hostid , email etc.)

Oh well.....

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Submission for a new license.dat went through ok.

My license has not expired yet but thanks for the warning.

Speaking of Dribble, this is a project I am working on. In my work we study the molecular structures of epithelial cells in the gut. The cylinders are obviously the cells (they need more tweaking), the colorful rings represent the molecular cement that ties them together and prevents bacteria to enter our body from the gut. These molecules were made with Dribble displacement. The square on the right shows the bump I used for the red molecules. Inside the cells there are three short cylinders painted with 3 different bump maps and colors, and their size adjusted so that only the displacements stick out.

I think this is a nice application of the displacement to put small structures on objects, like spikes and spines in different colors and reflectance properties.

Nice one Georg - displacement has some nifty uses.
