This has been a long time problem for me. Over time I have reformatted my computers, reinstalled truespace and tried everything I can. But I never can get procedural clips to work (only rarely). I do lots of physics without using PROCEDURAL CLIPS but really would love to be able to use PROCEDURAL CLIPS. Just wont generate keyframes on my physical objects. Anybody have this problem or a solution? :)

Anybody have any suggestions on this? I really need my my procedural clips to create animations. I have tried everything ... could it be a bug?

just out of curosity in LE have you selected save anim on the PhysEngine before running your simulation. This should save the animation to the timeline, once this occurs you can then generate keyframes.

Was the output of the proc ani output to an rcd file?

Yes, I have always made sure that it was selected.

Hi Jamesmc, hmmmmm, how do I check that? Now Iam finally getting hope. Maybe what you are saying is that the proc ani is not writing to a file?

Well, I'm a bit rusty and only remember what was in the proc ani course (the space scene where the guns are shooting lasers)

It was like in the very last video about saving the proc ani to an rcd file. Then the file could be brought back in and I suppose? added to a scene and recorded like anything else on a time line.

Sorry, it was a memory thing, not actual experience in doing it.

Not sure why your having problems. As an simple example:
Add Cube and raise it above the grid.
Add a Physics Material to the Cube.
Open the Animation Editor with the Cube selected.
Record a Key frame.
Right click the Track and select Edit in New Track.
Right click in this Time Field and Select Add New Procedural Clip.
Drag ends to set Start and End positions.
Right click the clip and select Generate Key frames.
Physics Engine will start automatically for you and generate the Key frames.
If you want to add more Procedural Clips you should Right click this clip and Uncheck Procedural so that it does not get over written when you Generate Key frames for other Procedural Clips.
This is just one way as there is others. For me this gives you more control. I like to add additional Tracks for the procedural that I want to Record.

There is more on this in the Manual:
9.3.9 Using Physics to Generate Keyframes, Part 1

Thanks trueblue for your extensive help. Unfortunately, I have been having this problem for months. I posted problem several months ago. I work with truespace physics all the time and know how to do the procedural and all that. Just wierd that even though I have tried my version of truespace on different computers and reinstallations I still have the problem. I will wait for next version of truespace as Iam sure that will be ok. It is going to also have some cool things that I cant wait to try. I have a feeling next version will be out real soon. Thanks again.

Could you follow trueBlue's steps below, and then post the resulting scene here so we can download it and see how it comes out for you? We can then compare directly that result with what others see.

Thanks!
