Ok I am using an HDRI image on this and I seem to be getting alot of light sources..or at least alot of shadows..and it is this way with any HDRI I use. Why?

Hi RJeff, Lightworks creates an array of lights of colors that match the HDRI image. Each light in the array casts a separate shadow. To get a smoother result you need to increase the number of lights in the array, by increasing the samples value. I found that the shadows are almost totally smooth at a setting of 100.

Two other things that might help you out are to lower the intensity below 1.0 and to use materials with a color darker than white. White = max color, so it doesn't give the engine any room to make it brighter via lighting.

Setting the saturation to -0.5 can also help if you are getting too much color from the HDRI image you are using.

Hope that helps!

Jack check this link out. This is where I have acquired some of my HDRI maps. See how his shadows are clean and there are not 10 of them. That is what I am going for and I just can't seem to get it. Is that becuase he uses Vray and I use LW?

Can you post a screen cap of your HDRI settings?

yep exactly.

You will get the same reflection but shadows vary from the kind how the render engine does it.

Vray use importance sampling.

LW like Jack said place more virtual light objects dependent from the sampling rate.
