Ok I think we have done this before..but I am not sure. Ok the first screen shot is the solid view display that shows the window cut properly. The second is the actual render and it shows the window filled in. Why does TS do this?

I wish I knew. And the only two ways I have ever found to fix it are:

1) cut out the top portion of your wall and just let it sit there not attached when you render.

2) remake the entire wall.

Have you booled here? Boolean produces faces, not holes. That it shows a hole in the solid view is the bug i would say, not that it shows solid while rendering :)

Try to select the face and delete it.

You might also try flipping the face, that works in some situations as well.

Ok I tired to select the face where the window should be. There is no face there to select. Man I gald I saved the mesh alot..so I don't have to go back to far..I just have to adjust some vertexes. I have run into this before though.

There is no face there to select.

Then you had a happy accident with boolean. The geometry is bad, and trueSpace cannot decide if it is a face or not. Something that can always happen with Boolean :)

Unfortunately you haven't shown a wire. But i guess that you have floating vertices. A fix is easy: connect floating vertices so that TS can decide what is a face and what not.

Ok I wil see if I can find one. If I can't I will post the wire... thanks

Dunooo..I don't see any, but then again I might be overlooking some as well. Here is my mesh. If you can point out where I might be missing some let me know so I will be able to id them in the future. Thanks.

The whole inner part is at no point connected to the outer part. And so this part is floating ;)

I cannot see your described behaviour though. It shows solid and renders solid at the point in question. I would nevertheless suggest to add the one or another edge at this mesh. As told, floating parts should be connected with the rest of the mesh to avoid the trouble you have here.

Hi RJeff, when I first switched over to using Workspace side over Model side, I noticed that Workspace does a much better job of cleaning up this kind of bad geometry.

You can select and delete the problem faces, also try setting the selection type to select through, rectangle select where each of the vertices are, then weld them one at a time. That can help get rid of "double vertices" where you have two vertices that are really close to each other.

Hi rjeff,

I am not sure how comments/suggestions can be made.

I downloaded the object/file you posted, then double clicked it (being a little lazy) and TS 7.51 gave error(pic1). I then loaded manually which showed the same in solid/render(pic2)

Which version do you have installed?
