Hello,

well i am despertly trying to make an accurate landscape from curves that I received from a surveyor... how can i proceed.. if I make curves and try to skin them it gives me strange results... anyone ?

Thanks

Depends on your version of tS as to how you might solve this.

1. Have the curves skinned before import (if they can produce the landscape from curves in their app, then that would save you the work - you can use OBJ for instance to import the final geometry rather than just curves).

2. In tS7.5, if the curves are filled rather than just the curve, you can select them at once, and use the Polygon Bridge / Blend tool to create the connection between them (you would be connected the faces rather than just the curves).

3. In tS7.5, 6 you could use the NURBS tools - you would use your imported curves as a template, and then redraw the necessary NURBs curves to match them (workspace side in tS7.5)

4. There was a loft tool, I think it might have been from PI, my memory doesnt serve so good there - I remember using it to make ship hulls, I made the slices to show there the hull would be then used this loft tool to create the final item. Not sure if it is available still, or if it was free or not, will do a search when I get time (unless another user recalls what tool it was).

HTH!

Hi bignono,

Is your curve map a 2D image? If so, a couple of approaches might be useful:

1.) Pick shades of grey, black (0,0,0) being the lowest point and white (255,255,255) being the highest point and fill in the map so that the heights are represented in grey scale. Then use that image as a displacement map for a plane.

2.) Create a plane and apply your curve map to it as a texture. Then trace the loops using the polydraw tool. Connect up the new vertices to form quads as best as possible. Then drag the each of the vertices up to their correct heights. A layer of SDS can be added to smooth the terrain if needed.
