Calling all tS animation gurus!

I've just completed a largish project using Camtasia - which has the delightful feature that lets you scrub through the timeline using the left and right arrow keys - I've sort of fallen in love with that feature.

So, the obvious question is - can I set hot keys that allow me to scrub left and right in the animation view and if so how?

I know how to hot key icons but the control rightclick thing doesn't work on the scrubber handle (or what ever it's called!)

Thanx in advance

You can assign a Hotkey to the Animation toolbar by holding the Ctrl key down and right click on the Move to previous frame icon. I would suggest using the NUMPAD4 key as the arrow keys are already assigned. The Animation Editor has to have focus in order for the hotkey to work.

I've fed this idea into the beta team too, just so you know, along with a couple of other AE related items that it reminded me of. Always good to collect up thoughts and ideas from folks on how things could work well :)

Thanks!

I am sure I have seen a script or plugin that does exactly what you are after. I am positive in fact, but despite a quick forum search I can't locate it at the min, if I come across it again, I will give you a shout!

Just a PS to my previous post - I am always on the look out for ideas, suggestions, bugs etc posted here, which I then can report on in the beta process. Do note that something being raised in the beta process is not the same as a guarantee that it will be included in the next release, or any release!

It just means the idea is noted, forwarded, and in the list for consideration of good ideas / things that could need updating or fixing / etc, and it will go through the same process of selection and development as everything else.

Also note that I often forward things into the beta process but dont always have time to report in the public forums here that I did that. Wanted to post here this time though just so that folks know we do indeed hear things that people suggest on these forums :)

HTH!

While not necessarily a solution for the scrubber view, I did want to share what keys I use in tS6.6, because this layout may prove helpful for you or someone else.

Next Frame - Right

Prev Frame - Left

Next KeyFrame - Shift+Right

Prev KeyFrame - Shift+Left

First Frame - Home

Last Frame - End

Record - 0 (Num Pad)

Very simple and to me quite natural. Really speeds along the animation process.

Been racking my brain for ages.. heres a link for a scrubber, lol no seriously its what you are looking for. Whether it works in 7.5 I don't know, but I guess you could try it, as it's a free addon.

Ah Beautiful trueBlue - this does exactly what I was after - works a treat! Thanks dude, here have a banana

@Igor - thanks for the link to that scrubber (wink, wink) but it's a designed to work with the old KFE which is quite diferent to the new AE. trueBlues solution works superbly so it's all good.
