I have a scene file I wish to email to another ts user.

I'm talking about a scene from tS7.5 model side saved in .scn format.

I'm a bit baffled as to how best to deal with the textures. I tried to archive the scene but the scene file still loads it's texture references from multiple locations on my hard-drive. I figure it's safe to assume the other tS user won't have those same locations on his drive.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Is there a reason you can't send it in RsScn format Wizard? It can then be viewed in model side.

If the user does not have tS7.5 then maybe you could save all your textures into a single folder and send it with the scene. When you open the scene it should ask you for the location of your missing texture. You direct it to that folder and it asks if you want to add that path to your texture files. Voila.

Will that not work?

Thanks Paul (Igor was right, you DO live in here!:D)

Yes that will work, I just expected that when you archived a scene the .scn file would rewrite the addresses for the texture files to the archived folder - in fact it seems odd to me that it doesn't. Shrug, it's not a biggy, I was just wondering if there was a way someone else could just open the file and there it all was.

I'm not sure that RsScn files carry the fog settings which are part of the scene which is why I was thinking of .scn files.

Additionally I was thinking (if you can call it that!) that users of tS 6.6 and earlier would also be able to use the scene file - forgetting of course that tS 6.6 and earlier can't read the texture info in a .scn made in tS 7.5 anyway!!

What can I say? It's late!

Thanks Paul.

Have you tried to Archive your scn from the Model's File Menu?

Yeah, that's the first thing I did. All the texture files saved to the archive folder along with the scene file as I expected. Re-opening the archived scene I found that the textures were being accessed from there original locations in various folders all over my Hard drive - I expected the scene file to access them from the archive folder but it doesn't.

A good lesson for me - I should have used a dedicated textures folder when I started the scene!

Well there is one other option you have. After you Archive your scene, in Model's Preferences, you could enter the Archive's path in the Texture Path.
