Ok not sure why, but when I render with Dribble, using GI, the shadows do not appear. Now when I render that same image with LW I get the shadows. Now I have turned on anything that has to do with light and shadows in Dribble and nothing. I like the rendered image in Dribble, much more than LW and I want to use it, howerver I can't seem to get thoes shadows.

I wonder, are you lights using shadow maps? There seems to be a problem with them being generated.


Another possibility seeing as you're using GI is that you might need to enable "use occlusion" in the GI panel.

Ok I will try the occulsion SIW..I am using ray for my shading. So I will try it. If that don't work I will send screens of my settings.

Having a similar issue. Installed 3Delight and Dribble on a new Vista machine and getting odd results from the renders. It's as if the light has no effect on the scene. It renders the object at the same brightness no matter what, and shadows don't show up.


Hrm....................




EDIT: It's as if there's a "front light" on from the camera view.


Perhaps this has something to do with a new version of 3Delight?

Well I am using the latest Dribble and 3Delight in a Windows XP Environment.

Under "Enviro. tab" and Environment Lighting settings I set "Intensity to .09, "Cast Shadows" is checked, Samples 32, Exposure 0.01

Seems "Intensity" might be the secret?

Runs fine on my Win XP machine.


Just acting strange on the Vista machine, though I feel that it's not caused directly by Vista. Seems like something else.


The scene renders the same whether I have an area light or enviroment lighting.


...and I know it's not doing the proper calculations because it renders extremely fast. ...even with settings beefed up and GI, caustics, and other options checked.

Without any further information, it seems like the shaders are not installed properly in 3Delight on your Vista machine.


Wait, didn't I release a separate shader download for people who had already download dribble 1.02?

I remember you mentioning that - I've got dribble1.02 but I don't seem to have a separate dribble shader file...... not sure what happened. I checked the dowload link page and there is only a single file link there. (I didn't download it again - I presume its the 1.02 file.)

Was there a separate link somewhere else?

occulsion worked...now I just have to learn the teaks for the shadows and stuff to make the more real looking.

Yeah, because of the shader confusion and a couple of other things, I think I'll make a release soon rather than wait until more of the "cool stuff" is done.

I take it as it comes and utilize any improvements you can offer. Dribble should be a mandatory addition to our toolbox. Anyone out there not owning Dribble I highly recommend you take advantage of the "Special Price" now! It just keeps getting better.

Indeed I am happy, my Dribble testing has dried up as I wait for Fur and other goodies. Actually, I have been too busy to use Dribble lately but I am going to get back to it once I finish the contract I am working on. Could you aim for, say, a release at the weekend or maybe Monday?? ;)


Only kidding but I agree with Steinie that every tS owner should have Dribble in their toolbox, especially if they want access to certain Vray features as well as true displacement and, dare I say it, fur!!


Go on, dig deep and get it bought, you will not regret it...:D

I totally agree!


Dribble opens up powerful rendering possibilities. This means I'm not stuck with the built-in Lightworks renderer of tS6.6.


...and the thing is V E R Y generously priced.


After initially reading the feature list on Simon's website, I would have dropped $100 without much thought. Now after owning it and really seeing more if its capabilities (plus the fact that Simon is a long-time tS'er and plans to keep rolling out updates) I say it's worth a bunch more than that.

Yeah, that's what I meant by "make a release soon rather than wait until more of the "cool stuff" is done". There are some new features, but the cool stuff will take a little longer.

Sorry Simon, I thought fur was almost ready for the original 1.03 release back in December....:(



Any chance of whetting our appetites with a list of fixes/new features in this next release, even if you cannot set a date?
