Is their a way to import 5.2 key mappings into 6.6?

If not, how do I save the 6.6 key mapping I did AND reload it?

If done it twice now because everytime I restart 6.6 the key bindings are gone and I have to do them over again. What am I doing wrong???

HELP PLEASE!!!!

Hmm, with key bindings you surely mean the hot keys. I don't know nothing about reloading a file to restore hot keys. But normally the applied hot keys you write in the icon helper should stay applied. Curious.

Icon helper is also the place to save a hot key list. But this list file is nothing to restore hot keys. It is just to tell you which hot key is in use.

What OS are you running? Maybe Vista is making fun here :)

Hi Tiles... yes I do mean the hot keys... I did save it and it asked me where to save it as well but when I reload, its all gone.

Using Windows XP SP 2...

Does it expect a specific file name in a specific directory perhaps?

It's been a while since I've done this, but I have managed to get hotkey configurations copied and brought onto a new trueSpace installation on a new computer.

If I remember correctly, copy the file "truespace.key" from one version's folder (ie. ts5) to the next (ts6). You may want to first make a backup copy of the file in the destination folder, where you are copying to (rename it to "truespace.OLD", for instance).

Like most things, there are two ways to do it.

Use the File/ Save/ Hot Key command.

Use the Save Hot Key List icon in the Icon Helper Panel. Save file as "keylist.txt" in the main tS directory.
If you crash out of tS after saving Hot Key List it won't 'stick'.
Be sure to exit and restart tS to help ensure the changes are saved.

EDIT: Frank is correct, there is also a 'truespace.key' registration file located in the main tS directory.
The machine reads this one, humans read the 'keylist.txt' one.
Copy it over as Frank described and your tS 5 hotkeys should now work in 6.
(My apologies for answering the wrong question, this should teach me not to attempt to be helpful before I've had enough coffee)

Yes to save Hot Keys you MUST exit tS and then re-enter. Otherwise an exception or crash that ends tS will lose all the keys you set up, they are only committed on normal exit.

So I always set up my keys when I install, then just shut and restart immediately, before doing any work. If ever I do set a new hot key, again I save what I am doing, then exit and re-enter to ensure there is a normal exit to commit the changes.

HTH!

Ps! I've noticed in 6.6 that if you change the "draw object" state between wire, solid outline, solid etc. it only does it for the object you have highlighted... is there a way to do it for all objects at once like it did in 5? or at least per layer?
