Sometimes I need to create an other object for a sceene. To have enough space and not to manipulate the sceene unnecessarily,
I close the sceene,
create the object
load the old sceene,
load the new generated object
and put it in the right place.
Is there an easier way? Is it possible (without problems ) to open an second instance (entity) of TS7.11.
Or does TS7 already has this opportunity with a second window etc?
(drag and drop from one window into the other) |

You could add another layer. Then you could hide or lock the layer with the rest of the scene and use the extra layer to model in. Then just move the objects you've modeled over to the scene layer when ready. |

I already work with layers, but I am afraid that the performance of TS would
become less. |

I can't talk for two instances of tS7, but I often run :
- two instances of tS6 : one to build the scene and one to model the objects. I just try to stay in wire frame display to prevent video slow down.
- or one instance of tS7 to setup lights and render using V-Ray and one instance of tS6 to edit the scene. |

I have run two instances of TS7 although it was more by accident than intent (double clicked the TS7 icon)
Not sure that the libraries update in the other version though...you should try it.
Now what TS7 needs is a clipboard where you can copy objects/materials that will remain active while Windows is running so you can open/close TS7 many times and still access the clipboard content.
Personally, I just make larger objects in the scene invisible so I can model without distraction-then re-enable all the objects once I am done. |

Yes, you can run two instances of tS7 but there can be problems doing this so I wouldn't recommend it. Depending on what you are doing in tS7 the memory requirements can be colossal with two instances running too. |

So far, memory (2Gb) is not my problem. But what are your experiences with
stability or speed.
Is it faster to work with two instances or with many hidden layers?
Splinters: Now what TS7 needs is a clipboard where you can copy objects/materials that will remain active while Windows is running so you can open/close TS7 many times and still access the clipboard content.
Or it could be the same result, if you can reload the projects or libraries from
file. In one instance you save your library and in the other you load it. |

Just tried this and while it was possible, I tried a render in one and navigating in another-cpu usage went to 100% while rendering and used about 800mb of Ram, otherwise 2-10% cpu and 600+mb of Ram. They were fairly simple scenes and the libraries did update in the 'other' version.
To be honest, there is no point asking for verification here-just try it yourself and see how it works on your system. It has been suggested that it is not advisable and you could lose a lot of work. Your choice really. |

Thank you splinter for taking time to test it. :) |
