Is it possible to generate HDRIs from Truespaces renders?

I did not find such an export format for HDRI in TS7.11 .

HDRI is an import only format in tS. There is no export support.

You could in theory make one in a similar way as you would make one from photographs. Eg you could set up a sphere, render, and use different light intensities for the different exposures, or maybe better yet use different tone mapping settings for different exposures. Or render rotating the camera, same thing capturing different light intensities / tone mappings.

You would then use a third party HDRI assembler program, one that takes a set of images and makes an HDRI out of them.

Now this would by no way be exact to apertures etc on a real world camera but could give some interesting results!

Direct export to HDRI is not supported though.

HTH!

That's a pity.

If it would be supported, it could save render time. If you would have

already a rendered HDRI with all the lights and objects, you can put

the new things into the scene and render again and again at a fraction

of time. (Needless to say that the HDRI itself would take much longer

to generate)

tone mapping and hdr can be generated from one single exposure, this program does a pretty good job of it http://www.hdrsoft.com/, the price is pretty reasonable too.

I am not sure if Caligari saves any of it's renderings into 16 bit format, with Photoshop CS2 (and maybe some of the earlier versions) you can make a psyedo HDR from a single picture, then combine them into a single HDRI or EXR file.

Hope this is of some help for you.

Truespace does support HDRI export. Sort of.

But you need Virtual Light and the virtual light plugin.

As stand alone, Virtual light will render on hdr 32 bits per channel.

You will have to work your own procedural shaders as most of the native procedural shaders will only be exported as they were bitmaps and used as textures.
