Anyone found a way of successfully mapping textures onto planes with Alpha channel using Lightworks HDRI. This is what I get (the trees), and yes all transparent shadow options are on;

No TS 7 here...but had/have similar issues with TS 6.6 and lightworks..

Are you using a true 32 bit Targa file for the tree texture..?

I have found 'issues' with using jpegs etc.

Yes it is Stan, but given the low infinite light for the sunset-a plane would block the light...wouldn't it?

Is this a background thing or a JPEG thing?

Splinters..the images I used are tga, so it seems to be a background thing [that only affects lightworks not vray :( ]

could you not use a plane with "cast shadows" and "receive shadows" unchecked in render options? then I would think it wouldn't block the infinite light..worth a try..

Turn off shadow casting for the background plane to make Stan's suggestion work :)

PS, if you are using an HDRI image as the background (ie you have Show Envir Image enabled) then this does not happen, all renders properly in my tests loading a b & w BMP or TGA into the Alpha channel.

So I don't think this is HDRI related, I think it is background image related (ie when you use a background image outside of HDRI). Interestingly, the background image will display if HDRI is off (still didnt quite work in my test as the background image was filtered seen through the object with alpha, and unfiltered and pixellated when not, so was still a visible difference!) - so looks like the solutions here are to use the HDRI image as the background, or use a background plane as suggested.

the only issue I can see is the hdri will colour the background plane..it seems to have no affect on a background images.. Gord
