That didn't work :)

All you need to do is go below the posting area on screen when writing your message, and use Manage Attachments. Select the image on your computer, and upload it.

Note that this should be a web format image - ie JPG or GIF preferably, or PNG if you really have to (usually only for moving lossless quality images around, much larger sizes that JPG, but lossless - and can include transparency). For this case, just a JPG will be fine.

I get an "invalid attachment" message so could be that you moved one in a different format (TGA or similar, for instance). A quick conversion in an image program would do the trick if that's the case.

thats a nurbs torus.....would like to use a "polyhedral" one...can i move/re size a trim like the one in the red circle? also i'm running

windows xp....3 GHZ prescott.....2 gigs ram...nvidia ge 6800....would you recommend adding a graphics accerator like Agesis Xphsys type card or 2more gigs ram to boost power?

Have you tried the Polygon Draw tool in point edit mode? That might be what you're looking for.

I haven't heard anything about tS having any support for the PhysX card, so I doubt it would make any difference to tS performance. Upgrading your graphics card [to a higher Nvidia or ATI-based card] would only improve the real-time display [model D3D & OGL, & the Player] speed [& possibility image quality in the Player, depending on the capabilies of your 6800].

If you want to speed up rendering, there are a couple of options:

1. upgrade your machine to either have a dual core processor, 2 single core processors, or 2 dual core processors.

2. If you have more than 1 PC that's good enough to run tS, buy the tSNet plugin & have your own little renderfarm.

As to what difference more than 2GB of memory makes... the honest answer is "I don't know". [only have 2GB myself] Caligari have said plenty about tS7 being written to take advantage of multiple CPUs/CPU cores, but I don't recall them saying anything about the ability to take advantage of developments in RAM technology [such as XP 64's ability to use more RAM than 32bit XP, or NUMA (Non Uniform Memory Access) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-Uniform_Memory_Access) ].

IIRC, with XP [32bit], you only get to make use of upto a maximum of 2GB for a program anyway, regardless of how much RAM you have installed. With 4GB installed, XP keeps 2GB for system [windows itself] useage, regardless of whether it needs all that or not. There is supposed to be a way [not sure how] to tell Windows to only use 1GB for itself, which with 4GB would leave 3 GB for programs, but if I'm right about the 2GB-per-program thing, then the only benefit that would give you would be that tS would get to use the full 2GB [assuming you didn't have other stuff running at the same time that used more than 1GB]. As to what would happen if you tried running tS under XP64 in 32bit mode - I haven't the faintest idea, sorry.

Several ways to achieve this, depending on your planned end result:

1. Create a cylinder, position it to intersect in the right place, then boolean subtract it from the torus. Note that since poly objects are not "hollow" like a NURBS object, there will be some difference to the picture you show.

2. Use Add Edges and Add Vertices tool to draw the shape you want onto the surface. Numerous options follow - use Face to Hole to create holes; select and delete the faces you just created; sweep the faces inward.

Probably other ways that I haven't thought of :)

If you are just trying to punch a hole through the wall of the torus, boolean subtracting a cylinder from the torus might be the best bet. IF you need to see inside the torus (as if it's hollow) you could shell the torus first (if using TS6 or higher) or boolean subtract another torus from that one to hollow it out, then subtract out the cylinder.

You also could move the points around to make a circular area and then delete the faces

um or do what Tom says, haha..I'm too slow on the typing
