I read some posts here about problems with vray and bump.

I have a problem, to get the bump on the top surface of a zylinder.

I tried to paint the face separately but no result. If you have a transparent

water container like a glas of water, then the sides of the visible water are flat (with the shape of the container) and the top surface is wavy. How can I manage this problem? On the picture you can see that the top is flat.

My guess is, that it is a mapping problem, not a rendering problem. Try the following: In point edit mode, select the top face of the cylinder, choose planar uv-projection and space bar to apply the projection. Adjustments of the projection should not be necessary. Then, render again.

Yes, thank you. Now my top surface of the water is wavy :)

I did not know that this option is for bumps too.

Why didn't I read this in the manual...

Hi all,

UV Mapping is the method where a 2D space is mapped onto a 3D space - applying any form of image onto an object will work via UV Mapping, as the 2D co-ordinates of the image must be mapped to the 3D co-ordinates of the object's surface.

So if you are applying an image to an object - whether that be as a color texture, or as a bump map - then the UV Mapping will have control over it.

HTH!
