I have seen in the brochoure that vray 1.0 supports HDRI. Does it support all kinds of HDRIs (panaroma,cross,....) ? or does the problem of HDRI downsampling in Lightworks raises here as well? http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?p=3604#post3604

Thanks,

I am pretty sure it supports all versions. If there are problems then it may be necessary to manually select the HDRI type rather than relying on auto detect. There have been no problems that I am aware of using this technique..:)

V-Ray handles the backgrounds in a much better way, doing some anti-aliasing (or similar process) that smooths it out so that there is a much better look to the background.

I generally find the HDRI in V-Ray to be more satisfying a result :) I can usually get softer shadows that render more quickly. The HDRI in V-Ray uses Irradiance Mapping, so you get much the same control over it that you do over GI, allowing a lot of ability to manipulate speed / quality / appearance.

HTH!
