Is there a way to have a listener to the keyboard. I see few change the widgets and such but for a scene done withen player I would like the user to be able to use the keyboard to navigate threw. I have a representation of a house and would like to try to link things up to controll the lights, tv, and any other.

You can use widgets to create buttons to turn on/off things by clicking on them. Widgets currently don't support activation thru keyboard, but it is possible to link it in the way that holding left mb will move forward, rclick will rotate view. There is view widget with walk in widgets library. You can drop widgets directly to scene, but you need to specify list of nodes you want to control..

7.1 allows to assign shortcuts to widget, but they can be only used to execute some script....

it should be possible to use activities and setup script to check keyboard buttons and according to them control the camera.
