Some of you already tried to create your own Object NAV widgets with success (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=283&page=3&highlight=widgets)

But did someone made a custom View NAV Widget ? I there a procedure available somewhere ? The instructions in the topic about the Object NAV widget are not easy to follow for a LE newbie like me...

I would like to make a very simple one, just to rotate/move around selected object and walk.

the easiest way is to modify the one that is there..save copy of original in widgets library..then work on the one thats active..

first find world view widget..it's in system / widgets / tools / viewwidget / [then choose to alter] ortho or perspective / [ lets look at perspective] encircle / [you should now see the highliter and] encircle / [in it you have euler transform and] shape..

what I did with my widgets was fairly simplistic..I first create the widget objects..cob models..

lets call the first object cube after entering it to see what nodes it's comprised of you find shape ,transform, and material..

I took the shape node saved it to my objects library and name it shape_cube

then you go to -> encircle / [euler transform and] shape.. replace the shape node with shape_cube , export the same links from node..[hook up wires to same place] rename it shape

now it needs to be placed and sized with euler transform..disconnect the wires so you can enter numbers in tx, ty, tz and sx, sy, sz..you might need to adjust pitch or roll too..then when you have it where you want it, hook them up again..

do that for each part of your custom widget..

Thanks a lot Stan !

Your procedure is very easy to follow and an excellent tutorial to LE.

I didn't realized it was so easy to make changes in the UI through the LE. I will make some improvements in my new widget and I will post a download link once ready...

Thank you again :jumpy:

Emmanuel..your welcome..glad you understood.:D

one thing I forgot to mention when saving your widget..save it in UI/widgets library..then you can export it as .RsCmp

other sections of the UI library like WM, Mouse, Widgets Package save and export as .RsObj ??? very confusing ..
