Hi all,
I started to customize a new layout...
First, I found that we can not simply re-arrange toolbars in a preset layout : In the example below, I made changes in the Full layout preset. But if I switch to the Default one, and swith back to the Full, I can see that the tool bar at the bottom went up, some empy ones stands on the left and the ones I moved to the right went back in their default place.
So, I created a new Library Item (from the root in the Link Editor, go to Libraries>Main Library>Layouts>Library,2(its real name is Configurations). In the LClicCommand field, I must set the location of an rsl file (WindowsManager.LoadLayout('\\RS Configurations\\my_new_layout.rsl')
But how can I create a new RSL file from scratch ? |

Not sure what prompted you to try doing things the way you did, but there is a simpler way. You can rearrange stuff in pre-existing layouts, they just don't keep the changes unless you save them 1st before switching layouts. To save a layout, either right click in the Layouts library [not the old 6.6-style configuration library], & choose insert, or if you want to replace an existing library right click on the 1 you want to replace & choose replace.
Also, it's a good idea to export your cutomised layouts, so that you have a backup, just incase. To do that, just right click on the relevant layout in the layouts library & click export. It's a good idea to choose somewhere that isn't anywhere in the folder tS is installed in or any of its subfolders, just incase you have to reinstall at any time. |

Got it ! Thanks a lot for your help!
The way to create a new RSL Layout file was just to create a new Layout in the Layout library. No need to go into the LE. I think I have been confused by the Layouts library icon and the Configuration library icon. Both open a library called Configuration library but their roles are not the same : one is for toolbars configuration and the other one is for general layouts.
It is not obvious at first :o |

read this thread on layout customizing (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=324)
in your images under the X in left bottom corner is a "save current state" icon click it..a dialogue box open..you take the default.ctx rename it..create your own default.ctx and create a backup ..
don't use the ts66 one at all called "configuration"..they shouldn't even have put it there ..only use the one called "layouts library"..and new library system..[in your layouts it's top right corner.second icon]..
and both icons look almost the same?? yes very confusing.. |
