Something which tells me what frame in an animation is currently rendering or what the progress % is in a radiosity calculation. Is it hidden somewhere and needs to be turned on or is it absent? After I posted this the forum interface indicated a prior similar question from January - so to save anyone else trying to answer I repeat Splinters then answer here: (I did do a search prior to starting a new thread - really I did!!) "In full layout, swich to player and open it from icons on side. switch back to model view and it remains there. I would also open layout library while in player view so you can save yo u full layout from model view." Thanks Splinter.
