do this first..setup you window arrangement to suit your needs..always save your configuration in stages to the layouts library..save a few editons as you progress in case you have to go back one.. [and export a backup]

save a preference state in the preferences library in the same manner..

here's a link to customizing toolbars 101 look here (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=294)

this is a link on nailing toolbars look here (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=226)

here is the large version of the aspectbar [view icons in model] look here (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=292)

the "save current state" icon is found under the big "X" icon used to close truespace

use the "save current state" icon to replace the default.ctx..first rename the original default.ctx as a fail safe..save a new version ..name it default.ctx..now the default.ctx is your layout..the only way to be safe is make a copy of the new default.ctx and save it in another folder..

if you further modify again at some stage, before you lose it, remember to go to the "save current state" icon again overwrite the default.ctx and then overwrite the backup copy when you are sure....

if the layout gets corrupt with further use or tweaking, just delete the default.ctx [found in the truespace7/ ts folder ] go get a copy of your backup default.ctx from the folder you put it in , replace the one you deleted ..open up TS7 it should be just like you had it ..:D

I do use custom layouts, but have only bothered to modify 2 [Default & Full], due to the hassels with stuff not staying where you put it, even if you save the layout. Seeing as customisability is 1 of the selling points of tS7, it would be nice if Caligari could fix this.

TBH, I never bothered with layouts before tS7.

yes we use that here in canada too lol

the default layouts in ts7 are all packed like sardines I can't work like that..

with one monitor they should have made auto hide windows for the stack library and link editor etc....not that you might know the program, but visual studio uses nice auto hide window system with tabs..:D

You're right, I don't know it. :) But Maxthon's (http://www.maxthon.com) way of hiding the toolbar & just leaving the tabs there is rather cool/useful.
