Anyone know what the maximimum texture size is for TS 7? I can't seem to find it in the manual.

I tried using a 3133*4983 texture (jpg) on a simple cube. No error messages when I load the texture, but once loaded, it's just solid black (where the original was white background with black text and shapes of varying colors).

More specifically, it's solid black when the painted object is rendered and in the MatPreview. But it shows up correctly in the Color window (regardless or U/V reps/position and regardless of Reflectance, Luminance, Diffusion, etc.) and correctly on the object in the "Draw objects as solid" mode.

I could be wrong, but I think it might be 2048 x 2048. I'm basing this purely on the settings for solid display mode, as that's the highest you can set texture resolution in there.

I know this was true in tS6.6 with lightworks, has anyone tested with virtualight or v-ray?

Since Vray gets it's textures from the player side, I'd assume it's 2048 x 2048 (as dictated by right clicking on the render mode icon)

It used to be (at least in 6.6) that 4000 was the maximum in size for a texture used in rendering. Not sure what the limit is for real-time display.
Try resizing the tex so that it's maximum dimension is 4000 and test it- if it's still black try 3999- I'll bet it shows up then.
This is a Lightworks render engine limit.

EDIT: Sources inform me that it's actually 4096
