I've noticed some weirdness when saving objects to the new libraries.
If I save an object the old way [as a .cob file] it also seems to store its position, but when dragging an object in from a library, not only does it not remember its position, it doesn't go where I drop it either. Well, not in model view. If I drag it into a player view then it goes pretty much where I drop it, then when I switch back to model view it's where it's supposed to be, but If I drag an object from a new library into model view, I have to zoom way out before I can even see it, then drag it back to where I want it. This is really annoying. Is there some way to do this without having to switch to player & back again, or if not, could you give us a way to do so?
Alternatively, could someone come up with a tool that would work as a button on 1 of my toolbars in model view that would move something to 0,0,0? |

If you drag and drop from the new library into the Link Editor (LE) and not to the Player or Model view, the object should be placed into the scene in the same location it was saved in.
If you save the object to the 'old' Model libraries, then clicking the object will load it into the same location in the scene and the LE.

You can use the "Normalise location" icon to do that. |

If you right click the matrix and expand it you will have access to the properties of your object. TX, TY, TZ are the location. Roll, Pitch, Yaw are the rotation angle. SX, SY, SZ are the scale. |

Cool, thanks.

I didn't realise they were still there. Must have seen the icon plenty of times, but didn't realise what it was. :o

D'oh! I can't believe I didn't think of that - I use it for other stuff, but it never occured to me to use it in this instance. :o
Thanks for everyone's responses. |
