So I purchased the new video training from Caligari and I get to Lesson 04B (things have been going well.... I'm learning the new interface) and ..... 'wait, I can't get it to do that.'

Context Selection (Face, point, Nearest, etc) in Player mode, does not highlight the mesh parts of the cube.

'Maybe I'm doing something wrong ..... replay ...... nope, same result.' I tried shut down and restart of the system. Still didn't work.

'Maybe it's an Nvidia driver problem.'

Today at work, I try the same thing on the ATI equiped box. Everything works as advertised.

Is this a reported bug? Do you think the new drivers will fix this?

Not sure what's up with that. I have NVIDIA pci-e card and it works with the tutorials just fine. Try using another player, like free DIVX or some other player.

I have Nero, DIVXX, Windows stuff and Sound Blaster Video players...they all seem to work with the Caligari videos.

There are some new drivers for NVIDIA, it's like 8.xx something forceware drivers. Available from their website.

Could be a heat problem too. Video cards can crank up some temps.

If I understand your question correctly, you're saying that the action shown in the video can't be done on your system with TS7 in player mode. It's not a problem with the video playback itself.

Hmmm. I'll check it out. I have a Nvidia GeForce 6200 with older drivers on it.

Newer drivers are due out soon (or already may be out) so maybe this will not be an issue.

This is most likely a driver problem (however we have not this reported by beta testers, so may be it's very unique config you have)

Try to reduce rendering quality if player selection hoghlite start to work or not. If it still does not work under 7.0 compatibility mode, than it may be a bug. In that case, please save default.ctx, it may be needed for the problem analysis.

I tried all settings for "Shading quality" unter Player hardware settings. Still the same--no point, edge, face, or nearest selection under Player mode.

In model mode I can select (for ediit): points, edges, faces.

My default.ctx is about 6M in size. If you have the size on your Inbox (or an FTP site) I will send it to you, if needed.

Thanks,

mk

hi, Could you say what driver version you are using if it is newer than 78.01 as detailed in readme .rtf then this could be the problem , but you should not be able to switch between player and model window in this case.

if we still need the *.ctx you zip or rar the ctx it will be much smaller my mailbox should be able to handle it, I can also forward it on as well to Tomas .

thank you

Well, one possibility is if you were tinkering with the Player side Mesh Editor Settings panel. It is possible to set the "opacity" to more or less invisible status. What do you have set for this panel?

Paul,

The drivers are ForceWaree 78.01 (would not work with initial drivers so I rolled back)

Card is: GeForce 6600 (AGP)

System is: 3Ghz Pentium with 2Gb Ram

OS: Windows XP SP2

___

Norm:

Opacity is set to 50%

____

Other items/widgets on the player space are highlighting when I mouse-over: object axis, view widget

Screen cap attached (I hope).

just a thought..you have soft select clicked..right? on mesh editor settings panel..click default and change to soft..then adjust point size..

if you choose select element and start it's movement will you get a selection..[the arrow icon, hiding under soft select icon]

here is what I mean..took me awhile to find how to change point size in edit mode..and to get use to how the new selection tools work.."soft selection" only selects poimts..while "select element and start it's movement" will select points, edges, faces
