I am totaly confused about material emission and unfortunately the manual isn't helping me. Could someone please describe the exact steps needed to get an object painted with material emission enabled to actually emit light in the scene? Nothing I do seems to work.

first make sure lightworks is your renderer in preferences..

then..on top of material editor panel click "material light emmisions" icon..

and check "use material light" on emmision panel

Did all that, but it wasn't working. I just tried turning the brightness all the way to the max and set the falloff to none and I'm finally getting some light, but it's so little I can barely see it (which is why I thought it wasn't working at all before). Why is it so dim? I've got a whole bunch of cylindars in my scene applied with this texture, basically like flourescent light bulbs.

BTW, I also notice it renders really slowly. I guess that's to be expected? Area lights always were frustratingly slow.

use the intensity numeric entry rather that the slider it only goes to 2..the numeric one goes much higher..try numbers like 15..it goes by faces I think..the more faces ..more time to calculate..
