Where is the truePlay stand-alone content viewer?

Hello to everybody.

In the PDF artists manual on page 907 it says the following:

truePlay is a freely distributable, stand-alone trueSpace content viewer which allows you and your partners to preview, navigate, and interact in your trueSpace scenes (by double-clicking on a file with an .rscn extension). truePlay can also connect to the shared space, where your partners can interact with you. It is an ideal tool for presentation of your scenes in real-time, whether they are sales presentations, architectural walkthroughs, training simulations, or multi-user games.

I understand how to bring up a .rscn in the shared space but this is only useful if your client also has Ts7. If it is a stand alone content viewer I should be able to email it off to a client and he should be able to view it without TrueSpace. So the main question is: where do I go to get the free downloadable application truePlay.?

I too have high hopes for the Trueplay Standalone app. Shared space for TS7 should be cool too. DX9 and video cards for the viewing really looks great. I run a Dual 1.8 AMD MP2466N-4M with a gig of ram. The system came with Radeon 7700VE but didn't support the TS7 cool features. I bought a Radeon 9600 but until I flashed My Bios the card didn't work. Now it looks and functions much better. Looking forward to Trueplay! Scott:jumpy:

Would be nice to know what is behind the delay. It's been about 3 weeks since the delivery of tS7...

Content.

We have truePlay, but we need something interesting to be in there when people come and visit. It's not really a delay at all in fact, just part of what is needed to get it ready.

Development time was just that - time spent developing the applications. It is very hard during that stage to design much in the way of content (no time, plus the applications are changing). So really you can only start on that once everything is finalized and finished.

Right now, content is being worked on, and that is the primary issue behind truePlay not being downloadable yet. There are some other items being added in to truePlay too, some of those being new ideas from the last few weeks.

So now you know the reasons behind the delay :)

Hi I was wondering how much longer it may be before we get to use the now quite long awaited True Play. Tom G , I noted you said it was ready but you were waiting to put stuff in it so that when people went there they would have something to look at. I thought it was going to be a free exe that we could put our own 3D in and send it off to our clients to view. There is realy no point that I can see of you putting something in it. It was advertized as being availalbe in the mail advert you sent out selling TrueSpace7. You don,t need to advertize to us with it, we are using your product, we just need an empty True Player. I should mention that I am very happy with your fine product but we are all waiting for it and it seems a little strange that your taking so long just to put something in it.

hmmmmmmmm.....,

I didn't even know about it when i ordered this product. It seems that TS7 is more powerful than I thought.

Thanks for bringing this up Mario.

No no, that is not what truePlay is at all! :)

truePlay is a portal to access the online shared space. That is, a space where people can meet and when one does something, everyone sees the results of that effect.

This is why we have to put something in it - even non-tS users can come into a shared space, and meet tS users. But they'll need something to interact with! A tS user can create geometry and edit objects, but a truePlay user will have nothing to do in there unless there is something in that space.

This is not just some 3D viewer, it is much more powerful than that. There are a multitude of offline 3D viewers out there, and plenty of ways to get 3D content out of tS and into those. truePlay is something unique, though.

The shared space has to reside somewhere on a server of course, in order for it to be accessible to all, so there is no such thing as an empty truePlay. And this is why content is so important, since without shared content, truePlay really doesn't shine. There will be offline files that people can load and play (tutorials and the like) that won't happen in a shared space, but that's not the heart of truePlay, it's just a secondary thing.

If truePlay were just a 3D file viewer, then it would have been released a long time ago :) It is, however, much much more. All will be revealed soon!

Tom

EDIT : Just to add, it's not about sending a pre-wrapped 3D file to your client, which is already possible by various means; what this is about is collaboration and shared space; it's about being in there with them, in the 3D, and walking them through it, directing their attention to things, and receiving their feedback directly, live, in real-time - for tS owners, you can then go ahead and make requested edits right in front of their eyes and they can say "No no not that" or "Yes, just like that" and so forth.
