Hi, this is the current method to Create 3D record and media file.

It is still under development and is not too friendly to use but here is the current workflow.

First you have to create 3D record simultaneously with media file.

Open screen capture software (e.g. Camtasia), select screen area you want capture.

Start capturing and then start 3d recording.

It is important to keep the order, the best if you start simultaneously.

Finish in the same order, first stop screen-capture software and then 3d recorder.

Save (export) record.

Attaching media file.

Then you need to add media file to the record.

Load the record, open command prompt and type following command

RsRec.AttachPreviewFile(filename)

This command opens media file and compiles it with the current record into one file.

(for example type RsRec.AttachPreviewFile('c:\\test.avi') if your media file test.avi is located in main C:\ directory)

Open media control to verify if the attaching process was successful.

It should display first frame of the media file.

Save (export) the record with different name.

It is important to save the 3d record before playing; otherwise it will lose reference to attached media file.

Check result: close media control (there is a known bug, if you do not close a media control it will refuse to load or play record, it is going to be fixed ), load record and press play.

Time synchronization.

This step is required only when there is noticeable difference when replaying 3d record with attached media.

If you started 3drecord and screen capture software simultaneously then it should replay correctly.

Otherwise you need to synchronize – start 3drecord with delay.

The Following command can do this:

RsRec.PreviewOffsetTime = dwDelayInMilliseconds.

For example if you started 3drecord approximately two seconds later than camtasia capturing type following command:

RsRec.PreviewOffsetTime = 2000.

Finally export the record.

hope this helps, it may take a few goes to get this correct, it did for me .

Open media control: Opens control for attached media preview file. Record manager allows
the synchronized replay of 3D record and 2D video media files. Because 3D record does not
record UI changes, the media preview file provides a convenient way to include 3D recorded
video fully synchronized with 3D recording. For example, you could watch a 2D Video course,
stop it at any time and continue where video left off by direct interaction with 3D scene. You can
find more information about creating and attaching media preview in the reference documentation.
