What is the best path for communicating Truespace into something useable in 3D CAD software like Solid Edge or UGS NX? I want to do concept development in Truespace, but define details of objects in Solid Edge or NX. Can someone email me some samples of geometry they created in Truespace converted to something I could work with?

Solid Edge and NX can work with STEP, IGES, ACIS (SAT), STL (not very useful), Parasolids, DXF. Any thoughts?

My application is both architechtural and mechanical.

Hi wbednarz.

The Model side of truespace (which is basically an older version of truespace currently included) provides DXF export. You can model on Workspace side, and with the bridge turned on, switch to Model, and in the TS6.6 Files menu (shown in the picture), export to DXF.

I do not know what version the DXF export is, though. Probably version 14 or so.

Currently the export options on Workspace side are very limited; Collada export is available on workspace side.

But this is changing with the release of the SDK, as well as scripting capabilities in truespace.

Another option would be to export to Collada, then use another app to convert from Collada to one of your desired formats.

Other common used formats you can save to from tS are 3DS, STL, X, and OBJ. You may find converters or plugins to get those into your CAD app of choice if it doesn't support any of them directly.

DXF would most likely be your best bet though!
