Hi together...

i want to create a animated weld seam. Difficult to explain for me.

Ok, lets say i have a plane and i want to cut this in 2 pieces along an animation (with a laser cutter or anything like this). The Laser goes along a path thrue the material.

My problem is the resulting "dirty" Texture that should show behind the laser point where he cuts the plane. How can i achive that - any ideas?

My only idea ist an animated Texture but this is quite difficult to create.

Oh, i forgot - i use TS 6.6

I'd use two materials, a before and after, and an animated mask, in layered materials in the Model side. This would be easier to make than the animated material most likely as you just need to animate a greyscale image.

You could use an animated boolean on the workspace side if you wanted an actual hole to appear. Animating the texture would be an issue though, a bit trickier then - maybe you could use two objects, one inside the other, the animated boolean would in fact "cut away" all of the top object, revealing the second object (pre-cut and with dirty texture) underneath.

Probably a lot of other ideas on how this might be achieved!

HTH!

I made a quick test, animating the welding seam and it´s texture. It´s not properly textured, but you should get the idea. You could add another overlaying object with a glowing color that moves with the electrode.
