I need a DX material (or technique) to realize the surface of a calm, shallow pond.

I tried to use the glass D3D material over another layer but I think it needs a little bump map. This material has a tab for a normal map input but I cannot get it to accept an image file.

Any ideas?

TIA

Parva's DX shader pack has water in it.

and this search of the Garage may give you some help as well

GraySho has a scene available with ocean water that you MAY be able to modify:

Thanks for the reply.

I do not see any material in Parva's shader pack that is for water. Maybe the shaders can be configured for it, but for now, that is beyond me. I will try to dig into the manual on material creation to see how this might be used.

The search of the Garage turned up nothing.

The GarySho ocean water reference looks good but the scene does not load properly for me (missing some "PiShaderLab2.1" bit of magic.).

Edit: OK. I figured out how to put a texture into the glass material through the LE. I am working my way through the manual to understand how to make and modify materials. Then I may be able to use the shader pack.

I realize you're aiming for DX materials, but if you want to grab ShaderLab2 (for LW shader creation) it's available for a magical, unbeatable price. Free. (http://www.primitiveitch.com/pub/)

spacekdet: thanks for the link. I will check it out.

Now working my way thru the DX Material Editing section of the manual and experimenting with stuff in the LE.

Sometimes you have to select the same file twice for image to update in panel. Don't know why. Also dragging image to panel image (twice sometimes too  ) will update the panel. Hope this helps.

I do have a water effects shader except it won't work in 7.6, will share once update comes out for tS.
