I need to install .net framework 3.51 to run some software. (I've only got vers 2 currently). I went to the microsoft website and (eventually) found a link to download what turned out to be a 2.8mb setup file. You run that and it wants to connect to the net to download 63mb worth of files.
The problem isn't just that I only have dial up at home - the computer I'm trying to install onto has no internet connection capability! I searched around microsoft some more but had no luck - I just kept finding myself back at the same 2.8mb download page.
Does someone no where I can download a complete setup for .net framework 3.51 that I can do from an internet cafe? |

Hi Burnart.
If you have Windows XP, .NET 2.0 will most likely work.
Try it and see.
If you have Vista32, it probably will not. |

Hello frootee - I didn't specifically say that it was the fluid sim plugin that I'm trying to install but you may well have correctly guessed that!
I'll give it a whirl and see how it turns out. |

yeah. :D
Please let me know if you have any questions about it.
There are some other folks here using it who are also very knowledgeable with it. :) |

Thanks for the link trueBlue . I knew it must be there somewhere but I'm damned if I could figure out where they had it. I'll try monday maybe.
My install of the Fluid sim plugin stalled again .... now I have to update C++ apparently ... doh!
BTW what is net framework - what does it do? |

basically .net provides functionality for applications built with Visual Studio.
If you have Visual Studio installed on your computer, .NET is installed as well.
But if you distribute your application, the .NET package also has to be installed on the system in order for the application to run.
What does your message say burnart? |

I was trying to install the plugin via the workspace plugin installer but I couldn't see it. The Fluid sim manual says if you can't see it then you need to update C++ so I've just done that. Now I can see the plugin - will it work? Thats what I'm about to figure out. (I've gone from doing the auto install to the manual install)
BTW thanks for the explanation frootee. |

Ok so long as you have the latest C++ and running .net framework 2 or greater than the fluid sim plugin does seem to work. (Thats a 63mb download I won't have to do.)
I've loaded the test scene and the Scene Fluid Controller and thunderbirds are FAB so far frootee.
Now its back to reading some more of the manual and doing the tutorial type stuff. Thanks guys. |
