Whats the best way to save an animation FILE in 6.6?

I want to render with LightWorks a series of frames directly into an animation

file for Preview Purposes Only! I know if tS crashes (which does not happen

very often for me) I loose everything. But I don't want to go to the trouble

of saving out a series of frames then compiling them for just a 720x480

preview. I'd like to save out directly to a h.264 but I know thats NOT gonna

happen. A wmv file would be fine. Whats the best way to do this???

And what settings should I use for Best quality.....? Can't find this in the manual...

Also, when I am done- and I DO save out a series of HD frames what

VideoEditor would be the best to compile them with. I want to- in the end

end up with H.264 video-files....

Just use Render to File in the Model side, and in the Animation section chagne it to All Frames or Frames From To. Be sure to choose whether you are rendering Modeler or workspace animation first. Then just click render, with a file type of AVI.

You can't render to WMV direct from tS, only to AVI. On clicking OK, you'll be asked what codec to use. If it's just a preview and not a final, doesnt really matter which you use as quality wont be an issue. If you are going to recompile later with a video tool, use uncompressed (huge file size of course, and may not play back well due to that depending on your system - but if you're compressing in another tool later you definitely don't want to compress at this point).

XVid and DivX are good AVI codecs if you want a final file of some sort. Cinepak is ok if you don't want to install other codecs. Those would be my three of choice.

It still remains better practice to render to a seqeuence of still images though (which is what an uncompressed AVI file is anyway really, just that they are smushed into the one file and can't be accessed separately).

HTH!
