I doubt the older VRay will work, there is a whole new install procedure for it in TS7.6. Didn't you read the install instructions?

Installation for Vray 1.53 is handled via the Package Manager. Download the latest version. It should be waiting for you in your purchase directory (it was a free upgrade). The instructions are "VRayReadme.rtf" after you install.

ok it doesnt show up in my PM. so wont be using it again. tho my virtuallight panel is showing up again haha random events in TS i thought would be ironed out by now. vray is a pass till they sort out ts more. crashe's every 10 min. some times a simple undo will crash it. so dont want stress it with vray till a major update comes out. the minor updates are a tad dodgy ATM

You should report the bugs. generally I don't see any crashing, except when you sub-divide too many times it goes a bit nuts. VRay 1.53 is brilliant. fixed a lot of the bugs in 1.52

really annoyed with TS and the lack of functions and expandability is so small or not even ready......

cinema 4d is looking better and better to spend cash on

the hair is TS is a joke actually.not seen any real quality renders in model/workspace side with it...i got bald heads and funny results. or a system that hangs at low settings if there are any wuality shots of it please post a link to it (modelside) please ..and the hanging is killing me and crashing...used it on my quad core with a 8800 GPU and 4gig ram and it dies time after time...what would be the point in mailing the Log file

i am really bumbed (PSD OFF) with TS at the moment ( i am just VENTING)

cant do allot of work in it 30 min tops before i get a hanging app

no plugins and a lack of up to date community is annoying me today

blender is blowing up in half the time caligari has been around....WHY????

i dont use the workspace side that much or at all so not sure what its used for Fully

not taking the miky (not to much) out of TS but its been out for years why is it living in the dark ages (some aspects and lack of features)

the cloth is used how???

the hair is used how??

maybe i am a idiot that cant turn on a light swithch hahahaha

but i get its a leaning curve to get to know ts and how it works fully

but if there are any links to

hair in ts

clothes (cloth) i know they still in its early stages

and advanced uv editing

i got to use uvmapper pro for that

ok i am done thru venting now will fire up Ts again (sigh)

LOL:D

blender is blowing up in half the time caligari has been around....WHY????

It's been free for a lot longer than ts, and also has some pretty cool tools. Despite this, and the press it gets, the blender community isn't really that large. I like Blender, but I think most people experienced with it know honestly why it isn't causing people to sell their autodesk shares.

Blender's been getting a lot of good press for a feature it has called anisculpt. Even maya or softimage doesn't do this, apparently.

Weirdly, I've checking out this program over the last few days. Someone who knows me very well (and my unfashionable skepticism of so called pro apps - I'm an ex max user) advised me to have a look at it.

All I can say is that it's an extremely well thought out application. Powerful and well supported (it even has built-in 3delight support - hint hint ;)), yet intuitive. I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. It is a bit expensive, though, about 2000 euro+ (including plug-ins) to really replace what I already have in ts (and others). So unfortunately, after crunching the numbers, and gazing at the pavement out the front of my house that I will be sleeping on if I don't get my hands on some cash soon after xmas, I had to put it aside.

However, I have to say that if the next update for truespace isn't promising, or we at least get some idea of what truespace is going to become over the next couple of years, I might have to have another think about it.

oh i know its a bundle to pay for a package like that but its worth it as far as i see....

TS is just to far behind at the moment

and maybe the ploy to release a free version and sdk is a good business plan to get more TS users making plugs and expanding it and getting more users trying it out.

then cash in later

but its too buggy as it sits in this state..allot of mem leaks and funny actions that are annoying me and i am sure many other users.

from using 'main stream apps' to this is kinda a downer....

i dont have a problem buying software but Ts was my first 3d app i used back to v 2 then 5

so willing to give it a chance...i know creating a bug free program is not so easy (as the program you use has bugs)

but waiting years for this to get up to the modern age (hair,FX,clothes,) is a tad to long for me. i will run behind

but love the animation system..very easy and neat.LE is also going places, and the option of vray is perfect (if and when it works hahaha)

i will use it to model in then hit up EIAS 7 for the rest

the moment i rent this post and opened TS 4 min 35 sec after it crashed (hung)

oi.......lololol

:jumpy:

dit is lieve (it is life)

I'm not getting the crash problems you are, and they seem to be pretty rare on the boards these days since the 7.6 patch. I think you might have some issue with your pc that ts doesn't like. Vray is rock solid for me.

tS is just to far behind at the moment

Not really, that's the frustrating thing about ts's development and the current news blackout.

i been thinking about that as a market mind...the guys are not idiots i gather that much...there good at what they do...and its guaranteed this user keeping TS in his 3d arsenal

so keeping it on the downlow about stuff....

and releasing allot of what people want etc after a year or so

is good marketing

but can backfire

anyway this post is negitive enough so just keep at it and try get vray to run damn LOL

You are trying to use mismatched versions of VRay and TS as I stated before. So giving a critique about trueSpace's stability isn't really fair until you fix your problem.
If you owned version 2 and 5 as you stated how is it your still inexperienced in 3D?
You also stated you haven't used workSpace yet. I find that side very stable. I created the entire Mule Movie with it and never crashed once. So shouldn't you get your act together first?
I saw your cartoon meshes and I liked the style.

Certainly need to use 1.53 of V-Ray with tS7.6. VR1.52 had bugs and issues, and always best to be running the latest versions of each.

There was a post about something related to materials, to do with having material preview spheres visible when doing something, caused a crash - I don't recall what exactly, but might want to forum search for that in case it is what is happening for you.

The workspace is tS7.6 - the Model side is really just tS6.6. No need to ask what the workspace is for :) It's for everything tS is for - modeling, rendering, animating, etc. All improvements to animation tools etc are found in the workspace. The Model side just has all the old animation tools (with all their old problems). Same applies to modeling tools etc. Some modeling tools can only be found on the Model side for now, eg NURBs. But you can do almost everything on the workspace side (eg see Jack Edward's Organics course).

The cloth and hair are more in the way of "bonus" items and not core functionality. As such, you won't be making a Pixar movie using either of them, I would say their use is indeed limited for now.

HTH!

Since i turned off the multi thread render option, i've had no problem with 7.6, its never crashed or hangs, once a selected object just went on a world trip when i tried to turn it, but thats the only odd thing its done

I've had Vista for a year now and every 3D app i've tried did something weird, Bryce has missing drop downs, Max hung, Vue hung..

Its quite funny but most free apps work better than the commercial ones for me

I can't understand why you don't download the free Vray update and see if it works, you've paid for it

in ts i dont have much experience. in 3d its now at 3 and a half years. dropped it to study audio engineering so getting back to 3d work. i used ts 6 just after it came out. but never got fully in to it. and yeah i was mislead to think 1.53works in ts 7.5. but even befor vray the program hung allot. but i am working out what made the program hang. etc. i was venting this afternoon and i over stepped that line. i will continue to use it tho.
