In Modeler I can rigth click on one of the textures in my library and it gives information about it as well as the size, is there a way to do that in WS?

I am building library's of textures that I extracted in PSCS3, is this a preferred way to do it in TS WS side. Modeler seems to encourage this and I know that I can do it... but the workflow seems alittle bit off for this. Am I missing out on msomething by doing it this way, or maybe it is just the way that I am doing it...

Any tips, suggestions... remarks of encouragement.

Unfortunately Workspace texture size is oddly still set via the preferences panel on model side. I think it's a bridge issue.

Yea that is the other thing that is hard to work around...

Well those 2 things would be pretty high on my wish list.

Thanks Jack

The easy way to get an id on the texture type and size, is to use windows menus, rather than truespace. I mean by this, windows folders and file directorys.

This method will work with windows xp:

Go to folder where you installed truespace. open ts folder, find texture folder and open it.

Hover your mouse curser over the texture name, and if you have the tool tips that shows the word for what your over, it will tell you all about that texture.

What size it is, what file type it is, and so forth.

I do not know of any truespace way to display the info while in workspace. You can open a second window, and go to it and set it to display this texture file list, and run truespace in a second window, and then you can switch back and forth between windows when ever you need the texture info.

This is one area where tS has taken a step backwards (or at least not yet stepped far enough forward!). The Image browser in the model side/tS6.6 is a joy to use as it shows a visual thumbnail of any images plus gives you mouse over stats - image size etc.

The Workspace however does not give you thumbnails. Additionally, using the Windows Explorer browser instead only gives thumbs of certain file formats. I use lots of .tga files which Windows Explorer does not create thumbs for. The get around the Windows Explorer shortcomings I use Irfanview as my graphic image browser which does make thumbs from .tga files. However Irfanview does not support drag and drop of files into trueSpace.

It is my hope that future versions of tS will not only give direct statistical info (including file location info) of image files used in the Material Editor but will also provide a full thumbnail browser similar to the Model side Image Browser.

You only need to apply this bit of wizardry (http://www.greggman.com/pages/thumbplug_tga.htm) to solve that problem.

I prefer to use Windows file pickers rather than the tS image browser... consistently faster to load, ability to sort by date, etc, etc.

All that being said, I think the latest version of tS/WS has image info popups in the image browser.

I just wanted to point out that with the above utility you can indeed force windows to display thumbnails for TGA files.

Does it work in Vista? I don't know, try it.

works in vista-32 but probably not 64. PaintShop Pro can thumbnail the pspimage format but it doesn't work in vista 64...it's the same reason it's a nightmare playing back the training vids as the codecs are all 32-bit and media player is 64 bit....doesn't like it...
