I downloaded truespace and the extensive video tutorial, however the tuorial is on v7.0 (I think) and I'm on 7.6. So the tools available, icons, and toolbars are very different. Is there a way to either get a tutorial for the newer version, or configure 7.6 to look almost exactly like the version hes on. Im totally new to modelling, the only modding\3-d art I've done in the past is modifying some skins, so I'm painfully inexperienced.

Any help would be appreciated, cause trial and error wasn't getting me very far.

Yes.. many tutorials are maded from 7.11 UI just a few like Jack's and Dele's tutorial are maded from 7.5~7.6

example:

Since the UI is totally customizable you may find screenshots or vids where the buttons are located on other places..

Feel free to add you questions here, we'll try to help you on your learning process..

Cheers!

I bought a new laptop with vista-64 bit. I downloaded 7.6 and it runs well but most of the video courses won't play in the media player. Is there a special codec that I need to download? Thanks

I have 64-bit vista too. Unfortunately the codecs are all 32-bit and media player cannot use them. What I've found is if you use something like Nero ShowTime to play the tutorials they work fine as it is a 32-bit app as well.

Also, a while back I posted some HTA files that wrap up the courses. Using these will give an error when you start the video but then, on clicking OK proceeds to play it back just fine. You can find them here:

Not ideal but it works. These HTAs are not perfect and have a few typos but do work.

My advice is to start with Jack's Workspace Organics course, which is TrueSpace 7.5, virtually identical to 7.6 in terms of the UI but with some additions. Also, for the model side, try the Getting Started with TrueSpace 6.6 and also the Spirit of the Interface course.

Once you go through these, you should at least have an idea of the icons and it should make the other courses easier.

I ran into the same thing with the Getting Started tutorial but so I asked in here when I didn't understand some difference. Actually I think I asked in the New User forum. I got good answers.

Most of the changes seem to be minor and easily ignored. The important stuff is still sort of the same.

I got a response from Brotherx in respone to the video tutorials not playing in vista-64. I got Showtime 4 trial and it will play the older videos but there is no audio....any ideas. I also downloaded your HTAs they open in IE7 but will not play. I tried to open them in VLC-Media Player and Windows Media Player. I also checked for update in Nero Showtime 4. Thanks
