There is no way to get the Conversion Pack any more. You would currently need to look for someone to convert from IGES to a tS format for you (an existing owner of the CP for an earlier version of tS for instance), or look for a converter application that will turn IGES into something tS can import.

HTH!

Looking through the threads here it seems you need this conversion pack for AutoCAD models. Is it impossible to get the conversion tools? Is there some kind of licensing issues now?

I need to import AutoCAD models to export for Virtual Earth.

I wonder why the conversion pak is not available. Surely it was not licensed from anyone, you are effectively giving permission for other users to do the processing and anyone who has the pak from 6.6 or 7 has the necessary files. I can see why some Paks are not available now but isn't this just a few dll's?

Seems a shame that it can't be made available for new users to expand tS7's use as a serious CAD application. Isn't precision CAD one of the selling points in one of the product pages...without the ability to export to CAM...it is very limited.

Yeah... TS has default NURBS tools. The ability for it to export IGES or STEP file will make Truespace very attractive to product and industrial designers.

Out of curiosity - does anyone know if the Conversion Pack I got for tS5 is the last version released, i.e did it work with 6.6 and is it likely to work with 7.6? Or was there a later version? Would I have to do anythign clever to install it to 7.6? (like creating a dummy ts5 exe file in the 7.6 directory or soemthing like that?)

The version I have is just called ts51ConvPack.exe - I don't know what the actual version number is...

I believe it was version 2.1...not sure...

EDIT:

my mistake..no version. I used the wayback machine to get at the old site and it says something about ts5/6 only.

Further Edit:

I was right. there was a 2.1 and it handled IGES/DWG/SAT/STL formats and a few others.

Cheers BrotherX - the version I've got is supposed to handle those formats, though I've never really tried them to find out how well, so that's presumably the version I've got. Whether it will work under 7.6 I don't know...

It was possible to copy the files from the 6.6 conversion pack into tS7 but I am not sure if that is still the case with Ts7.6. I don't think the tS5 files will work as model side is the tS6.6 engine (tweaked) and probably not compatible...:o

As far as I could tell, you need 2.1 for them to work in TS6.6.

I think TS is in sore need of a converter for IGES, STL, VRLM 2.0, STEP just to name a few... how do most of you experts deal with this?

Bizarre that the conversion pack is no longer available; either free or for purchase! I'm glad I bought it when I did.

The last conversion pack (2.1) does work in TS 7.6, but you need to manually copy the dlls (as explained in an older posting).

It does work but it's not perfect (in general, not just in TS 7.6). I've used it for importing IGES files, and although it works there are some strange things and the objects rarely import 100% perfectly, so it's hard to trust it for anything serious.

The conversion pack doesn't support STEP. It would be great to be able to import (and export) STEP files, correctly separated onto layers -- an as an aside, we really need layers supported in the workspace too!
