In chapter 2a, at 1 minute 40 seconds the audio starts breaking up and around 2 minutes 40 seconds there is no audio for the rest of the video.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Is there a newer version of the course that doesn't have this problem?

Just checking to make sure we are talking about the same video, is it the one with the line drawing of the mouse? If so, i just watched it, and i didn't have any audio problems. I did, however, experience and audio problem in video 1 of character animation, but a reboot solved it.

This could be a codec issue with the audio codec. It's not in the course itself but in the playback. What happens if you start the video then jump to that section? As far as I recall such a problem would cause breakup not at a particular point in the video but after playing for a random amount of time, so doing that should let you hear that section of the video.

If the breakup is always at exactly the same time in the video even if you jump straight to it, let me know. Also if anyone else is seeing this, let me know.

Thanks!

Tom

I should have said that this is the Introduction to Product Illustration by David Froude.

The course uses camstudio and flash for playback...

I checked the next chapter and the audio has a lot of noise in it.

The other product illustration course works fine if you play it back using the Divx player...

I'd initially had some noise problems with a couple of the courses. I don't remember specifically which ones...it's been a while. I downloaded some audio voice or speech codecs from Microsoft that solved the problem. So you might try that.

Basically if your codec isn't compatible with the compression used to create the video, you're going to have the noise problem.

For the one where he makes light bulbs and packaging, I watched the entire thing. There are audio problems throughout. Distorted sound, sometimes out of synch with the video or audio missing completely. Too bad because this is as good a tutorial as you'd want to see. I've never had problems with .swf files before.

Why not let Daybe know you enjoyed it here...

You can also ask him questions there too. Almost all the courses have a thread here for asking questions about the courses.

This way you can deal directly with the Author.

We stopped using SWF due to issues that came up - they worked fine, but began to work less well as new browser versions, new codecs, new OS's etc came out.

You might try browsing the SWF outside of the player and see if that helps (the HTML has a player in it that plays the SWF with the controls, just going to the SWF file may help, not sure).

HTH!
