I've never tried to use VirtuaLight for my own scenes before... and I am having two difficulties...
1. This could be nothing, but the anti-aliasing settings are integrated into trueSpace and the level of adaptability is under the VL render dialog? Yes, they are different settings? My point is, is regardless what settings I use, VL says in the rendering status that anti-aliasing is disabled...
2. I am trying to render with the standard glass shader (which says that it will work) and regardless what I try, the best I can get is a scene that looks like its missing all ray tracing calculations... Any help? |

A: Far as i know about VirtuaLight Adaptive Depth = Antialiasing
Yes, they are different settings?
A: Yes are different Settings, Virtualight has his own settings panel where you can access to other VL settings like GI, bounces, etc..etc.
My point is, is regardless what settings I use, VL says in the rendering status that anti-aliasing is disabled...
A: yes seems antialiasing is not responding on Virtualight panel. :(
2. I am trying to render with the standard glass shader (which says that it will work) and regardless what I try, the best I can get is a scene that looks like its missing all ray tracing calculations... Any help?
About question 2.. can confirm.. glass shader is not working on Virtualight.
I tried to set the glass transmission to 10, the preview looks better but in the final render still rendered as black.. :(
I will report this issues to the developers.. |

What I was trying to ask was: Was the setting in the VirtuaLight dialog controlling AA while at the same time as trueSpace is controlling it? OR Is the setting in the VirtuaLight dialog controlling the amount of Adaptive AA, while trueSpace controls the minimum amount of AA?
I assume the latter is true, in which trueSpace tells VirtuaLight to render with (ex 2x AA) and VirtuaLight will run Adaptive AA on top of the 2x AA... for those who don't follow me, it means that the whole scene is rendered at 2x anti-aliasing while some parts have additional anti-aliasing done...
Either way, I was just curious about that...
Thanks for all the help! |

When using the Lightworks glass shader, the virtuaout code converts the shader to its VirtuaLight equivalent.
Scene made and rendered in trueSpace 6.6, using VirtuaLight 1.4 free renderer through virtuaout 1.3.0 plugin, default render panel settings:
13698
Same scene imported into model side of trueSpace 7.6, rendered with the included VirtuaLight 1.4 renderer through the integrated virtuaout plugin, default render panel settings:
13697
Scene here

The "antialiasing disabled" message in the status view when rendering, is a bug BUT antialiasing is working (set antialiasing in modeler to 2x, 3x or 4x)
The aa setting in Virtualight Options determines how much adaptive depth is used when antialiasing, in addition to the antialiasing level set in modeler, BUT, it does not seem to have any visible effect, so maybe this is not working at all! |
