I run the simulation on a cloth object and then "Generate Keyframes", The cloth will not record keyframes, but other physics objects will.

See attached for example.

Any one else having this problem?

Your right it doesn't. It was discussed here:

Hi Ed, At the end of the CLOTH section of the manual it says DOES NOT GENERATE KEYFRAMES. It is a bummer :( Maybe in the next upgrade! :jumpy:

Could morph targets in phys mode help acheive this effect,

Have not experimented, but will try some some things soon.

I think that it may be possible..

KEyframe attributes may have to be exported or avtivated..

I think by using scripts, we can make offline renderer of cloth simulation into several frame files. Like frame1.png, frame2.png, frame3.png,... etc. Then later convert all frames file using video editor software become avi or other vidoe format.

well one way to do it, with script possibly, is to create a script object (not script command) which renders to file.

The time input would be from the PhysEngine's CurrentTime output connector.

With script objects, each time the object itself is 'changed'; i.e., one of its input connectors is invalidated by receiving new data, the script executes. So the Current Time on the PhysEngine is a good one to use. Connect this connector to an input connector on your script object.

Now, as far as timing is concerned, I am not sure what will happen if truespace does not complete the entire process for a single frame before the next connector invalidation. Will it hang? Or will it just queue the render jobs?

Yes, I missed that line in the manual in my haste to play with the new cloth feature. I don't know why in the world cloth is in the program then. Yes, you can freeze the simulation where you want and then collapse the history to get an object that you could offline render, but the big thing I thought was new animation capabilities. Hello?? I'm glad I got a beta copy of TS76, but how about a full release?

Pardon me, I usually don't rant, but I would've rather have paid for the feature than get a feature that's fairly useless for free.

Hi Ed, Since I ONLY do realtime rendering to file I was bummed out that I can not render CLOTH to file. I tried freezing the simulation as you mention and collapsing history but that did not work. How did you do that?

I'm not really sure. I haven't tried that yet. I only read about it last night here:

I only do off line rendering as well.

Check the "Continue" attribute in the PhysEngine panel. Stop the simulation when, where, and how you want your mesh to look like. If you want to save a static mesh at this point, enter and then exit Point Editing by right clicking your selected object twice.
